IDLE FLYER WINS WITH SOMETHING IN HAND

The Matthew Smith trained Idle Flyer proved too strong for her opposition in the Group 3 Angst Stakes at Randwick.
The 1.36 length margin of victory aptly summed up the superiority of the $2.50 race favourite over the concluding stages.
“It was super to see her come back and do it again today,” said trainer Matthew Smith. “She was good last start … put the writing on the wall.
“We had to take a chance today. We didn’t want to go right out the back to last, and we didn’t want to be forward, so we just had to take a bit of a punt.
“She didn’t get any favours, but she was too good. “She quickened up nice and was getting her to the top in the last furlong. It was a good win.”
And it was win number two of the day for jockey Zac Lloyd.
“She’s super classy,” offered Lloyd. ‘Matt’s done a fantastic job with her.
“At home she is a handful, but today was the best she has relaxed, so she executed that race really well.
“She’s been dying for the mile,” continued Lloyd. “Obviously, running three wide, you are running a bit further than the mile … but the way she did it, in such a good rhythm and so smooth was great.
“She wasn’t overdoing it and I was confident she would be strong late.
“She is very good.and will only get better.
