TWO FROM TWO FOR BEATTY AS HE TAKES OUT THE MAGIC MILLIONS CRYSTAL SLIPPER STAKES AT ASCOT

By Graham Potter | Saturday, November 22, 2025

The Sean and Jake Casey trained Beatty scored an untroubled win when saluting for the second time in two starts, proving too strong for the opposition in the $100 000 Magic Millions Crystal Slipper Stakes over 1100m at Ascot.

The promising two-year-old colt finished a similar clearcut winner on debut when he beat his stable companion One Last Resort home by 1.45 lengths at the restrictive odds of $1.85.

With that race experience on his side … nine of his eleven opponents were on debut … Beatty was again all of the rage on the betting boards, and he duly ran away to a 2.60 length victory, this time at the even shorter starting price of $1.35.

The son of Gingerbread Man landed in the lead at the break, but Willie Pike was content to let the early speed around him go as he settled Beatty in a comfortable fourth place, just a little under three lengths off the lead.

If there was any moment of concern it came approaching the home turn where Beatty appeared to be in danger of being trapped behind the line of runners in front of him, but Pike was having none of that and he wasn’t shy in bustling Beatty along and angling his mount out into clear air as the field straightened for home.

Once there, Beatty joined in the sprint to the line and it was quickly obvious that he was travelling too well for his opposition and he emphasised that fact by pulling right away from the chasers over the last 200m, going to the line under a hands and heels ride from Pike, seemingly with plenty still left in reserve.

One of the first-timers, Consignment ($15, finished best of the rest to claim the runner-up spot.

The $5.50 second favourite Mystic Smile … the only other horse quoted under $15 … finished out of the placings, beaten by 3.48 lengths.
