Fresh from his maiden success in Hong Kong, Ethan Brown has confirmed he will be on a fly-in, fly-out mission when he returns to Australia to take the ride on the Ciaron Maher trained Jimmysstar in the Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup May 30 at Eagle Farm.
“Yeah, I’ve been booked for Jimmysstar on May 30. He runs in the Kingsford Smith … so a quick hit-and-run mission, hopefully for a good result,” said Brown, talking to HRO”s Darren Winningham at Sha Tin.
“Obviously, I’m open to pick up other rides on the day, but Jimmy’s the main one I’m going for … and anything around that is a bonus.
“The horse has been very good to me. We get along well.
“He’s flying under the radar a bit this prep. He hasn’t had a lot of luck at all. He ran a terrific race last start.” (When third to Beiwacht in the All Aged). “I think 1300m is his sweet spot. We just need to get a good draw.”
Jimmysstar is an eleven-time winner from twenty-six starts with $8.5 million banked in prize-money. Brown has ridden the son of Per Incanto in eleven times of his last twelve starts where their results have included three Group 1 victories in the Oakleigh Plate, the All Ages and the C F Orr Stakes, all in 2025.
