NIGHTLINE IS OUT OF THE WINTER CARNIVAL

By Graham Potter | Friday, May 15, 2026

The Tony and Maddysen Sears trained Nightline, an exciting winner of the Gold Coast Bracelet last Saturday, is no longer a Group 1 Queensland Oaks contender after suffering an injury setback which will prevent her from taking any further part in the Winter Carnival.

“We discovered it this morning … it’s not that serious, but she is out for the carnival,” confirmed co-trainer Maddysen Sears.

“She’s just got to do a bit of rehab and, yeah, she’ll be back.

‘What do they say … ‘that’s racing.’

In the flip side of that, all is well with the Sears camp’s The Archer winner Yellow Brick, who will run in the Kingsford Smith Cup on May 30, before heading to his Grand Final in the Stradbroke on June 13, where he will be looking to go one better after finishing second in Queensland’s signature race as a $41 outsider last year.

“He is well,’ said Sears. “He went to the beach this morning … and yeah, touch wood, everything is good with ‘Brickie.’

“He came through The Archer well. Even the next day you wouldn’t have even known he had a race. He is just such a professional racehorse.”

Tommy Berry, who won on Yellow Brick in The Archer, has been booked to continue his association with the Sears stable star.
