MATT KROPP STABLE UPDATE
By Graham Potter | Saturday, June 13, 2026
A win at Gatton with Whatjeudoin’ on June 3, a second place finish with Heroic Delaneys at Ipswich on June 6 and now a win with Fundora at Warwick on June 13 gave the Matt Kropp stable the pleasing return of two wins, one second and one fourth place from six starts in the first half of June.
Fundora struck in a QTIS Maiden Plate over 1350m on heavy going at Warwick claiming his first victory in his fourth career start.
The three-year-old son of Lean Mean Machine has hinted at some potential in his first two starts when finishing in third and fourth place and, even though his third race result … when unplaced at Ipswich … was less convincing, his scope for improvement remained a very real, recognised factor and the Kropp runner was duly installed as the $1.80 race favourite … odds that he fully justified when winning by a comfortable 2.26 length victory under the guidance of Aidan Keeley.
After jumping well, Fundora raced in third, then second place in the first half of the race, tracking the speed. Fundora actually went back to third again approaching the home turn, but he had the inside line and he quickly joined the leading line in the home straight and he hit the front with 150m left to run clearly going the best of all … but Fundora then laid out quite markedly in the next 100m, inconveniencing the $8.50 chance Waiting For Graham in the process, forcing that runner to check, but that ‘interference’ was never going to be enough to turnaround a 2.26 length winning margin at the line, particularly with Waiting For Graham racing very greenly himself, so no protest as lodged. ______________________________________________________________________
The Matt Kropp trained Whatjedoin’ claimed the seventh win of his career when he landed a 0-62 handicap over 2000m at Gatton on June 3.
The six-year-old joined the Kropp stable a little over a year ago (in April 2025) and he has raced on twenty-three times since then for three wins, seven runner-up finishes (including three-in-a-row) and one third place … those results coming over distances ranging from 1400m to 2227m … at eight different tracks … on good to heavy going … details which underline the consistent level of Whatjeudoin’s continued involvement with Kropp managing that process well, keeping the Son Of Nom Ju Deu’s assignments within his range of capability.
Whatjeudoin’ who jumped as a $5 chance at Gatton … on the third line of betting … with Harrison Shaw in the saddle for the first time, raced just worse than midfield, settled on the rai, in the early part.
Shaw started to get busy in the saddle with 450m left to run and five lengths to make up, starting a long run that needed to be sustained to earn the win. Whatjoudoin’did make ground under hard riding, but was still three lengths adrift of the lead when he was shunted five wide on the turn.
The run home would test Whatjeudoin’s resolve, but he was up for the challenge as he just kept coming in a pressurised finish, and he hit the front with 120m left to run and stayed on stoutly from there to seal victory by a 1,27 length margin, keeping the two main fancies O’caldino ($3.40) and Waverley ($3.20) back in second and third place respectively. _____________________________________________________________________
The William Kropp stable had Trusty Bandit ($10) in the race with Aidan Keeley aboard.
The grey was in contention for a long way … he cornered right alongside Whatjeudoin’ at the top of the straight, but he was squeezed inbetween horses halfway up the straight when trying to stay in the race, after which he dropped away to finished unplaced, coming home five lengths behind Wahtjeudoin’. ______________________________________________________________________
Matt Kropp also had a fourth placing at the Gatton meeting with Rowdash finishing in that position in BM60 Handicap over 1100m.
The mare was a $26 chance in a race won by the $1.75 favourite, the Tony Gollan trained Chantilly, who was winning fir the second time in only five starts.
