QUEENSLAND TURF CLUB'S FINAL MEETING
By Graham Potter | Thursday, June 25, 2009
Just as the Brisbane Turf Club had done a week earlier, the Queensland Turf Club held the last meeting under its banner on Wednesday.
After merging, the identity of these two race-clubs now falls away to be replaced by the Brisbane Racing Club, which officially comes into operation on July 1.
In a day where the rain stayed away from Eagle Farm to allow the meeting to proceed, albeit on heavy going, trainer John Morrisey and apprentice jockey Luke Rolls combined to bring home the last winner at a Queensland Turf Club meeting in the form of the four-year-old gelding Teary Eyed, to seal their place in the history books.
The Brisbane Racing Club will hold its first meeting at Eagle Farm on July 4.
