JAMIE MELHAM LINES UP IN THE REST OF THE WORLD TEAM IN THE SHERGAR CUP AT ASCOT

Although it is a team event, it would be fair to say that Jamie Melham represents the Australian interest in the Shergar Cup at Ascot today.

The annual team event marks a unique day on the racing calendar in Britain and Melham will take her place in the Rest Of The World team, along with Suraj Narredu, who was part of Team Asia’s Shergar Cup winning team last year … and Yutaka Take, one of Japan’s most accomplished riders.

Three other teams are set to participate in this year’s Shergar Cup.

The Hong Kong team will feature Vincent Ho, Jerry Chau and Luke Ferraris.

Team Europe has Christophe Lemaire, Marie Velon and Frida Valle Skar in their lineup.

Great Britain and Ireland’s team is made up of Saffie Osborne, Dylan Browne McMonagle and Ryan Moore.

The competition takes place across six races, with the first five horses across the line in each race being awarded points (15, 10, 7, 5, 3). The team who earns the highest number of points at the end of the competition will lift the Shergar Cup

The jockey who leads the individual points tally wins £3,000 and the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle trophy.
