WINNO'S WINNERS: TOOWOOMBA, SEPTEMBER 26, 2026

This weekend we are at TOOWOOMBA for the meeting featuring the Weetwood and the Toowoomba Cup and the Weetwood. There are ten races with a late finish under lights. The track is rated ‘Good’ and the rail is in the true position.

Resident caller Anthony Collins will call the big day – an expert race commentator and another QLDer like his mate Josh Fleming who is now the Racing & Operations Manager for the Club – and doing an amazing job!

The AFL Grand Final is on – Fremantle to beat the Brisbane Lions by plus 14 points! In the NRL preliminary finals we should see Penrith and Dolphins moving forward to the Grand Final next weekend.

NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day, please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.

A nice race to start off the day – a 0-65 Handicap over 1300 metres.

First leg of the Quaddie. An open class race for three-year-old runners.

Race 8 WEETWOOD HANDICAP – LISTED

The first of the two main feature races – the WEETWOOD for 2026.
Blazing Harry (11) has been in sensational form since returning from a spell. Four runs in this preparation for two second and then two consecutive wins. Ben Thompson (hot off a massive weekend last week at Eagle Farm) rides this runner for Kristie Clark-Peoples. The winkers come off and the blinkers go on here. He does step up to open grade after racing in restricted grade – but the low weight may see him in the money here.

Munce Racing has the exciting Brace Monarch (1) resuming here. A Listed and Group 2 winner resuming with Martin Harley riding – drawn poorly in barrier 16 – but he is the class runner.

Band Of Brothers (3) trained by Matthew Dunn is the 2026 Ramornie winner. He had no luck first up at Doomben over 1110 metres (an unsuitable distance) but was forced to go back from the start when resuming due to the inside runners pushing up, and then he had no luck in the running. He races well fresh – second up – drawn well jockey Dylan Turner aboard – he is a genuine threat at $12.

Let’sfacethemusic (8) is trained on the track by Geran Racing. Gary Geran rides – it will be a great headline if the locals can win their feature sprint! He has had a month freshen up since winning over 1110 metres at Doomben. I just think he is more effective over 1000 to 1100 metres – probably will be proven wrong here. I don’t think he can win, but he will run a bold race.

Pat Webster has several runners – I think Esjay (4) looks the best of them.

Race 9 TOOWOOMBA CUP

The second main feature race on the program today is over 2000 metres – the Toowoomba Cup.

Munce Racing is looking to win both feature races – they train Diamond Show (12) here with Cejay Graham to ride. She won two starts ago and then finished strong last time at Doomben over 2020 metres and ran a solid second. She gets in well at the weights and should be competitive. The last female jockey to win this race was in 2013 when Skye Bogenhuber rode the winner for Tony Gollan – Bang On. The Munce team has a very strong record in this race winning it in 2023 with Military Gambler and last year with Walsh Bay.

Tony Gollan trains Chillaxing (10) and is looking for another win in this feature – his last win was in 2017 when Selfie won with Jim Byrne aboard. Chillaxing (10) races well at this distance – two starts for two wins. His last start was over 2400 metres on a day where things didn’t go his way. Forgive that run and go on the previous start win – he is a genuine contender here.

Prince Levi (5) is the horse I Iike. Trained here by William Kropp with Mark Du Plessis riding. He is looking for his first win in the race. Prince Levi (5) resumed at Doomben over 1615 metres. He was savaging the line late, suggesting that he will be cherry ripe for this longer distance on his home track. He has a solid second up record. I think he is well placed and at $9 is great value.

Divine Purpose (11), a newcomer to the Desleigh Forster stables, is a genuine each way chance. Robbie Dolan will ride.

I will be taking on ANTHONY COLLINS on his home turf – he does have a hometown advantage, but I am confident I can give him a towelling this weekend – how about a $10 scratchy on the result Mr Collins?

The battle continues this weekend with WINNO and COLLINS – yet another QLDer trying to inflict pain on me!
