BELLA YOUNGBERRY ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY

By Graham Potter | Sunday, October 11, 2026

It is good news … thankfully!

Trainer Adam Campton has confirmed that Bella Youngberry, the young apprentice attached to his stable, escaped any serious injury when she was dislodged from her mount on the way to the start of the second race at Eagle Farm yesterday.

There was real concern for Youngberry’s well-being as she appeared to lie motionless immediately after the incident, and the relatively lengthy … but absolutely necessary … period of time it took paramedics to assess her on the track only added to the unease that those at the track were experiencing … but it has culminated in almost as happy an ending as could be hoped for in the circumstances.

That Youngberry suffered no serious injury is a relief to all concerned.

She will still have to cope with a recovery period, the length of which is still undetermined, for the bruising she has suffered after her mount shied for some unknown reason … in the home straight on the way to the barriers.

“It’s bruising and soreness … legs, on the back of the neck, pretty much everywhere really,” said Campton.

“The horse came out to the right and then just shied at something. She went over and it sort of trampled on her … and that was it.

“It (the bruising) is a great outcome compared to what could have been.

“I’ve spoken to her numerous times. We’ll assess things over the next few days and work out a plan from there.”

Youngberry has been flying this season. She currently sits in second place in the Brisbane jockey’s Premiership, just four winners behind defending champion Ben Thompson … and she currently leads the Brisbane Apprentice Jockey’s Premiership, seven winners clear of the defending title holder Jace McMurray.
