DOOM OCT 10 - ELUSIVE STORM BLOWS THEM AWAY
By Graham Potter | Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Doomben, October 10, 2012. Track - Good 3; Rail - Out 8m. Maiden Plate (Fillies & Mares - Set weights) - 1200m. 1 Elusive Storm; 2 Dozing Stampede; 3 Varanasi; My Monica. Time: 1-10.67. Last 600: 34.07. Margins: 1.30; 0.80.
WINNER FEEDBACK: Trainer Brian Smith: “Small field … fair pace on. She’s come out of some good races. She had race experience on her side.
“We always wanted to ride her quiet. It is easy to ride them quiet when you can hold a place only three lengths off the leaders doing that.
“I always train my horses to hit the line. Once he (Scott Galloway) got her out that is exactly what she did.”
Jockey Scott Galloway: “It was a small field so there was a chance to ride her off the speed from an outside draw.
“The speed was nice the whole way. She was just bolting coming to the corner. When we switched wider she let down nice and hit the line good.”
STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT: Stewards accepted trainer R. Heathcote's explanation for the late scratching of Magic In Motion.
C. Munce reported at scale that My Monica was fractious in the barriers and as a result was slow to begin, however following this travelled well in the middle stages but did not quicken under his riding rounding the home turn and he was disappointed with its overall performance.
S. Galloway, the rider of Elusive Storm, was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
