DOOM OCT 10 - MASTER CARTER TAKES THE NEXT STEP

By Graham Potter | Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Doomben, October 10, 2012.
Track - Good 3; Rail - Out 8m.
Maiden Handicap (Four-year-olds and upwards) - 1650m.
1 Master Carter; 2 Frontalis; 3 Pediment; 4 Sundae Dreamin'.
Time: 1-41.05. Last 600: 36.16.
Margins: 0.20; 3.00.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Barry Baldwin: “He is lightly raced. He had a few problems early.

“He was out a long time after his first start. He hurt himself. He whacked his leg and had to go out for a long spell. We gave him six months and it was a good thing we did it … and this time he took a couple of runs to come right.

“The other day in the 1350 (when fifth to Huxtable) wasn’t a bad run.

“It was a ok win today. We won’t get carried away.

“He is a bit dour. He was stepping up in distance which helped him. Being by Elvstroem you’d think he might get further.

“I liked the way he slugged it out going to the line. The other one (Frontalis) was by Redoute’s Choice … a little bit difference in their purchase price.”

Jockey Chris Munce: “Look, he’ll stay all day.

“He is a very dour one-paced type horse, so his future lies in mile and upwards races … but this was a good solid effort.”

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Pediment (A. Spinks) reared at the start and lost ground.

Kahaani (E. Wilkinson) was slow to begin.

When being steadied rounding the first turn Kahaani raced ungenerously and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions.

Only The Strong (R. Myers) raced three wide throughout.
