DOOM OCT 10 - KEEP IT MOIST MAINTAINS HIS FINE RUN OF FORM; SCORES A HARD FOUGHT WIN
By Graham Potter | Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Doomben, October 10, 2012. Track - Good 3; Rail - Out 8m. Class 4 Handicap - 1350m. 1 Keep It Moist; 2 Cracco; 3 Skating Away; 4 San Jose. Time: 1-19.02; Last 600: 34.32. Margins: 0.10, 0.80.
WINNER FEEDBACK: Trainer Jan Aikenhead: “Pretty good horse … a tough horse.
“Probably leave it at this sort of distance for a wee while, because he is still learning. It is only his eighth start. Good strike rate!
Jockey Ric McMahon: “You can’t fault his form. Two starts ago it won here (at Doomben) and then the next start he had no luck at all. He ran to the outside fence and still fought on good.
“Today he had a really good run in behind them but, when they sprinted he just got a little bit flat-footed.
“It took him sort of halfway down the straight to really get through his gears.
“He was actually stumbling a little bit at because he was trying his heart out, you know. He was really fighting.
“The other one (Cracco) looked like he had me covered at one stage, but to my one’s credit he fought back and got the job done.”
STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT: Metaphysical (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.
Skating Away (T. Harrison) over-raced in the middle stages.
Skating Away lost its off-hind plate in running.
