DOOM OCT 27 - A DOUBLE FOR DEE BEE NINE
By Graham Potter | Saturday, October 27, 2012
Doomben, October 27, 2012. Track - Good 3; Rail - out 8m. Class 6 Handicap - 1110m. 1 Dee Bee Nine; 2 Spot The Rock; 3 Tahitian Black; 4 Starstreamed. Time: 1-03.95; 33.59. Margins: 1.80; 1.30.
WINNER FEEDBACK: Trainer Matthew Dunn: “Yeah, he got home really well as the sectional shows.
“In probably his last three runs, we’ve sort of changed his pattern a bit. We dropped him back in distance and ridden him a little closer to the speed … and he is relishing it.
“He was dominant in his last start win and again today he came off the leaders back and he won as he liked.
“We can now say he can perform on all surfaces … clearly. Previously there was some thought that he was a wet tracker, but he’s changed that view with his recent form.
“This was a step up in grade from his last win. He is meeting all the challenges.
“For sure, this is the best form of his career. “I mean his first run back from a spell … that was a hiccup. I’m not sure what went wrong there. We expected him to run better, but since then he has gone from strength to strength.”
PRICE FLUCTUATIONS: Winner (Dee Bee Nine): 4.40 out to 6.00. Favourite (Tahitian Black): 2.30 in to 2.20 out to 2.25. Finished third.
