EAGLE FARM, FEBRUARY 9: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Saturday, February 9, 2013
HRO's resident form expert David Fowler looks at today's meeting at Eagle Farm.
Race 1:
The wrap on TIP TOP TIGER (5) is too strong to ignore. Expensive yearling purhcase and expected to win. Plenty of money on this horse at Tattsbet fixed odds CRAIGLEA CRUZ (1) has the race experience and the speed to lead so he might be a safer investment eachway. EPSILON (6) looked good at Sunshine Coast and will run well. No roughies. Race 2:
Typical Brisbane staying race. FLYING HOME (8) wasn't a good thing beaten but should have finished closer D'bn 4th last Saturday when the jockey made a tactical error at home turn. M.Cahill booking a plus and bigger track and extra 100m are positives as well. BID SPOTTER (1) ran well latest GC 3rd. SAM'S TOWN (3) and BREAK THE ICE (4) quinelled a similar race two weeks ago. Rough chances 2,5,7 Race 3:
CLEVER HANS (2) is an ultra-consistent New England visitor who is right up to winning a race like this. Ran 4th Tatts mile during last year's Winter Carnival. Well weighted with claim. ROCK HOME LATE (7) is ready to improve 3rd run back and down 5kg on last run. Might lead. WHAT HAPPENDEDHENRY (4) is better at Doomben but will run well and ACHIEVEMENTS (3) is chance but under the odds in my opinion. Rough chance 6. Race 4:
Open no metro win but PRECIOUS MANDY (8) will get an easy trip off rails alley and coasted home SunshineCoast last Saturday. Both totes should be foolproof. ARCTIC (5) will be favourite and will run well but worth remembering strike rate is only 2 from 17. WHITESAILS (10) mixes her distances and has won over the mile. Rough chances 2,3,7,12,15,16 Race 5:
Hard to go past LOCKS LEGEND (6) after beaten a nose last Saturday when led off a wide gate. Better drawn now. SOOKIE keeps running well and will be competitive while GALLINARI (12) is in-form. Up in class but represents excellent odds in my opinion. Rough chances 2 and 9. Race 6:
The jar out of the track will certaimly assist JUGAHLATION (1) who seems well placed in this class. Gets a gun run from the rails gate. Appeals strongly eachway VINTAGE MOSS (3) is in rare form but getitng up in weights now. FITNESS FANATIC (4) chased hard behind VINTAGE MOSS so must be considered while ex-Kiwi PELLEGRINI (8) is a big watch. Good stable, good jockey. Rough chance 4 Race 7:
BETTER THAN READY (7) is at skinny odds but is a real talent who will settle back and come with a big run. Selected but no value. CARRY TO FORTUNE (6) leads from the rails gate and a must for quaddies and exotics as are SHAFEEQ (11) and ROCKET TO GLORY (14). Rough chances 3,4,512,14 Race 8:
LONGSHOREMAN (2) is absolutely flying under all conditions and just needs a normal passage in running to w\in again. Showers will be an asset if they arrive. DUSTY GOLD (3) has run well twice since a spell and VOLKHERE (11) is the improver off the rails gate. Gets a good run. Roughies 1 5 7 8 12 BEST BET: Race 8: LONGSHOREMAN(2) BEST EACHWAY: Race 6 JUGAHLATION (1) BEST ROUGHIE: Race 5 GALLINARI (12) QUADDIE : 4 6 12 / 1 3 4 7 8 / 6 7 11 14 / 2 3 11
