HRO's resident form expert David Fowler looks at today's meeting at Doomben

Worth keeping in mind to observe weather patterns. Presently we are racing on a slow 6 ... fine weather should see improvement but showers (predicted) will see a downgrade.

I've assessed this meeting for a slow 6.

RACE 1:

TERONADO (2) has looked good in two runs and handles wet. Selected to beat FLAMBOYER (1) who is two from two and handles wet. Up to 1350m now? Rough chances 3,4,9.

RACE 2:

PROST (3) was slightly unlucky last Saturday when held up for a run near the 300m. Third run back and ready to win from an in-form stable. KORANOVSKY (7) secures an easy lead here so can take catching. We were keen on GUNDY SON (1) when he won last start but slower tempo and slow 6 track concern me. Rough chances 2,5.

RACE 3:

LENNIES CHOICE (17) has only raced twice for a second then a smart EF maiden win. Stable has a good opinion of him. TOMCAT (11) goes best in Toowoomba but fair to say most of his racing has been there. Did split State Of Wealth and Morning Captain one grass track run. Value. JANTZEN (4) was off the scene for almost 2 years before he won well 1st-up GC. Rough chances 3,13,15.

RACE 4:

Surely BOYS ON TOUR (2) must win again after his six lengths romp in brilliant time this track and trip a fortnight ago. Meets same field and slow track a plus. Standout. Rough chances for multiples 1,3,6,8.

RACE FIVE:

PERON (5) is three from three and she is going places. Step up to the mile is right and stable and jockey in peak form. FANTISHA (8) drew a bad gate and was set a task latest 2nd this track and trip. Better drawn now and main danger to our first pick. PLUMAGE (10) can't be denied after winning impressively these conditions a fortnight ago. Rough chances 4,12,13,14.

RACE SIX:

Hardest race of the day but think HANDSOME (8) is way over the odds in most markets. Solid 5th these conditions a fortnight ago after winning well at EF. Slow conditions are a plus. SECRET GARDEN (15) is an above-average mare with rails alley and Cahill booked. DOLLY DOLLY (11) will get a long way back but keeps running well. Rough chances 5 (if dries out), 6,9,12,13.

RACE SEVEN:

SHOW AFFECTION (13) ran well but wasn't spectacular in her latest D'bn 3rd but down 4kg now and up in distance seems the right way to go. Foolproof both totes. KILWINNING OPTION (1) has a great strike rate and will race forward but slow conditions a query. VIKING HEART (8) is a top three chance with the rails alley and Colless. Rough chances 4,5,6,10,12,15.

RACE EIGHT:

LUCKY SOUND (6) went off the boil at the end of its last prep but I also fancy 1200m is its right distance. Gets good run and conditions are no problem. Trialled OK Deagon Feb 5. COMMANDARE (8) is in-form and will get a good ride from Stewart from the good gate. BRIBIE (4) rarely is far away in these races. Rough chances 9,12,13,14.
