RACE 1:

Not a hard race to win. SIR MOMENTS (2) fitter after first-up average GC run but better than that. Blinkers first time, good gate and Cahill all pluses. SKYTASTIC (4) should be assisted by blinkers, finds line well and NSW visitor CHOSEN IDOL (8) looks capable on 2 runs so far. Rough chances 2,6,7,9.

RACE 2:

MISSY LONGSTOCKING (1) has the best form and looks hardest to beat ($1.7 short enough). NAVELINA (3) has been freshened and will finish hard while MESMEREYSER (12) from the Gerald Ryan stable is the big watch. Rough chances 2 4 5 7 9.

RACE 3

Limited chances. LIESELE (2) is the big improver, expected to box seat off a good gate and no luck last time. FUNTANTES (1) is extremely well-weighted and will either lead or park outside leader. PURE PURRFECTION (6) also gets all favours and must be considered. Good box trifecta. Rough chances 5 7 10 11.

RACE 4:

TRANSPORTER (7) proved he could mix it with the big boys with his Hollindale Cup 2nd. Cahill rides him well and goes forward to make his own luck. SOLZHENITSYN (2) is under the odds in my opinion but his reputation keeps him up in the top three. VOILA ICI (1) can run a good race at odds. Rough chances 8 9 12.

Race 5:

Hard to go past EXPRESS POWER (4) on her dominant GC Bracelet win. Much better drawn now so gets all the favours. MAGIC IN MOTION (14) is a real live chance for the Queenslanders. Sure she will stay and Colless a plus. Big value fixed. DEAR DEMI (1) has a terrible draw but has the best form lines. Rough chances 2 3 5 6 7 9 11 12 13 16.

Race 6:

ACADEMUS (4) beat several of these in GC Guineas and the Darley team really flies during our Carnival. AL ANEED (13) and SIZZLING (1) finished behind ACADEMUS but could turn the tables without totally surprising. Rough chances 2 5 6 8 9 11 12 17 18.

Race 7:

LIGHTS OF HEAVEN (9) sparkled during last year's Carnival and is peaking at the right time 12 months later. Professional effort in Hollindale which is the dress rehearsal for this. Good alley only helps her cause. FORETELLER (4) was a terrific 2nd in the Hollindale after a wide trip and can provide quinella result again. Won't be surprised to see HIPPOPUS (14) run a race up near the lead. Rough chances 1 2 5 8 10.

Race 8:

MAHISARA (17) is a go forward horse who had a tough run in PM's Cup but fought on well. Although widely drawn I doubt the tempo will be as hectic. Keen both totes. FIRE UF FIFI (16) is an above-average mare and never runs a bad race. BELLTONE (11) goes best in winter and ran well in PM's Cup. This looks suitable. 1 2 5 6 12 14 15.

BEST BET: LIESELE (Race 3)

BEST EACHWAY: MAHISARA (Race 8)

BEST ROUGHIE: MAGIC IN MOTION (Race 5)

QUADRELLA: 1 4 14 / 1 2 4 13 / 1 2 4 5 8 9 10 14 / 2 11 16 17
