EAGLE FARM, JUNE 8: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Saturday, June 8, 2013
Form assessed for a dead 4 surface … possible showers (5 to 10mm).
RACE 1:
Punters should get off to a flying start with COSMIC ENDEAVOUR (13). Ran quick time off a wide gate at Canterbury and easily beat a horse who ran well last Saturday at Randwick. MISSY LONGSTOCKING (7) is the obvious danger with blinkers added while ENQUARE (11) will get a soft run and is a definite trifecta chance. Rough chances 8 and 10.
RACE 2:
TRANSPORTER (3) is the obvious top pick. Highly consistent, goes forward and is strong to the line. IBICENCO (1) is very generously priced at fixed odds considering he was just behind TRANSPORTER in the Lord Mayors Cup. Will run well. DIADEDME (6) was flat footed latest D'bn 3rd and best NZ form is over the mile. Rough chances 4,8,9,12.
RACE 3:
LUCKY HUSSLER (6) ran very well in Qld Guineas when second and can go one better here. J.Cassidy booking a plus. ACADEMUS (1) was only fair in Qld Guineas but the one alley is a big plus. Definite top three hope. HEZA JETSETTER (8) has a horrible alley but going along nicely and is one who will definitely run a strong mile. Rough chances 3,4,5,12,14.
RACE 4:
SATIN SHOES (3) is a fast mare who has always raced in the A-grade. Perfect gate and distance, gets all the favours and coming off a strong win at Scone. PENTASIA (6) was impressive at D'bn and is another who will secure a good run. Try and back both to win. DELAGO BOLT (5) will be back with the cap catchers but has big finish. Rough chances 2,4,5,9,10,12,13.
RACE 5:
Very keen on FIRE UP FIFI (12). In form and gets a good run off a hot speed. The $5.50 fixed is good odds. FLORIA (16) has run well twice since joining Moody stable and is another who will get a great trip from rails alley. RED TRACER (1) would like some showers and is poorly drawn but has a big class edge on these. Rough chances 4, 5, 6, 7, 17, 18.
RACE 6:
Big wrap on ROMANTIC TOUCH (7) after runaway Canterbury win, posting impressive figures. The tip is he will lead all the way. Odds are skinny though and SIR MOMENTS (2) might be the better betting proposition if you go each-way. Lead-up form excellent, mile suits, Cahill booked and good alley. VILANOVA (3) can turn the tables on stablemate ZOUSTAR. Rough chances 1,5,8.
RACE 7:
Oaks winner GONDOKORO (18) was ultra impressive after a good ride. Not as well drawn today but peaking at the right time. HAWKSPUR (1) is the obvious danger with superb lead-up form and drawn to get the same sort of run he has enjoyed in his past 2 wins. HONORIOUS (2) is better drawn now than his latest 3rd and can feature. Rough chances 3,4,9 and 14.
RACE 8:
YOUR SONG (8) was ridden too aggressively in the 10,000 after his BTC Cup romp. Positions off pace now and comes with big finish. BUFFERING (1) will dictate for a long way and look the winner but still a little reserved about him at a strong 1400m. SOLZHENITSYN (3) is a half forgotten horse but he will sweep home late. Rough chances 2, 9, 13, 15, 18.
RACE 9:
Raffle. Like VERDANT's (16) Victorian form and the Smerdon-Boss combination is also a plus. Promising stayer and attractive odds fixed. PRECEDENCE (2) put them away well last start at Doomben and can run well again now that he has found winning touch. QUINTESSENTIAL (4) would like some showers but will still be competitive. Thriving this winter. Rough chances (and there are many): 3,5,6,9,11,15,17.
BEST BET: FIRE UP FIFI (Race 5)
BEST EACHWAY: SATIN SHOES (Race 4)
BEST ROUGHIE: VERDANT (Race 9)
QUADRELLA: 2 7 / 1 2 18 / 1 2 3 8 9 13 15 18 / 2 3 4 5 6 9 11 15 16 17
