Form assessed for a slow 7 to heavy 8.

RACE 1:

AGITATE (1) is a fast horse and proven in the wet. Looked good in recent workout at Ipswich between races. DALTON (2) is limited but good enough to be competitive in this from rails alley with Cahill booking a plus. AQUATOR (5) needs it further but will pass many of these and handles wet. Rough chances 3,7,11 and 12.

RACE 2:

FLYING HOME (9) has no excuse today. Fourth run back, small field and good tempo see him hard to beat. WHATHAPPENEDHENRY (2) will race on pace and be competitive. MR SLICK (4) is a veteran but handles wet and is in form. Rough chances 6 and 11.

RACE 3:

CAPE KIDNAPPERS (6) is resuming but gets easy lead here and is highly talented (always runs times in winning his races). ALCANCIA (7) and BYMONASHEE (3) will be both finish hard but can they give the favourite a start and a beating at 1100m? I doubt it. Rough chances 2 and 11.

RACE 4:

FIFTH COLUMN (13) is a promising 3yo with a great each-way chance. Ran gamely in Gatton Cup 2nd after sound D'bn 5th. Won track and trip on heavy ! MARKOUT (2) is the best horse but up in weights and poorly drawn. HANDSOME DANE (5) ran well in this race last year and is presently in-form. Handles wet. Rough chances 3,6,7 and 9.

RACE 5:

Open race. MISHANI WARRIOR (2) has run well in his 12 start career and will finish strongly here. DIET (4) has won 4 from 4 at track and trip and will be hard to beat in this. QUARTERLY (15) gets easy run on pace which will assist him handling the longer distance. Rough chances 6,8,13 and 18.

RACE 6:

CLASSICS (3) gets a perfect trip from rails gate and handles slow and heavy. Should be fool-proof each-way. PERON (11) is highly promising and must be a top 3 chance while BOUND TO BLUSH (2) will race in or near lead and give a good sight. Rough chances 1,4,5,7,10, 12,16 and 17.

RACE 7:

SECRET GARDEN (12) is a terrific each-way chance. Loves the wet, Cahill riding well, and this mare is racing well. HIGH KIN (7) is a visiting NZ'er who has been set specifically for this race which is a plus. RIALYA (4) will be in the leading group and can run a race. Rough chances 1,2,8,11,14,15 and 19.

RACE 8:

MORNING CAPTAIN (5) is "flying". Been competitive last 3 carnival runs despite bad alleys. If they use his speed and find a forward spot whatever beats him will win. DANCES ON STARS (15) will get every opportunity from the rails gate and ran well in Guineas. JETSET LAD (3) was unlucky in this race last year and going along nicely this campaign. Rough chances 1,2,10,13 and 20.

RACE 9:

GENERAL GROOVE (11) secures a god run in midfield here and two Qld runs have been sound. Each-way in an open race. HOLD ME TIGHT (9) should go forward here and will run well. Went OK D'bn 9th. STAR SAMMY (13) is up to 1350m but appeals as a progressive type. Rough chances 1,6,7,8 and 14.

BEST BET: FLYING HOME (race 2)

BEAT EACHWAY: FIFTH COLUMN (Race 4)

BEST ROUGHIE: DAZZLE US (Race 7)

QUADRELLA: 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, 16 / 1, 4, 7, 8, 12, 14, 15 / 1, 2, 3, 5, 15, 20 / 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14
