Form assessed for a good 3.

RACE 1:

Typical stayers. POSTE RESTANTE (5) should have finished closer last Saturday when 3rd but was not unlucky. Drops 2.5kg today and can amend. MALING (3) is a solid stayer and suited with claim. MUKADDAMAH SON (4) is generally reliable. Rough chances 1 and 6.

RACE 2:

Difficult. PINCH RIVER (6) trialled well and in good stable. I’M ALONE (1) has the race experience and will feature. OUR ROCK OREILLY (5) ran slow time in Deagon trial win but looked OK. Rough chance 4.

RACE 3:

Lot of chances. WRITE CHEEK (6) is an honest mare and gets a good run here. Sound D'bn 3rd latest. Should be fool-proof both totes. ELMANTOSH (4) may have to drift back from wide gate but is racing well. DANYME (9) is an honest on-pacer. Rough chances 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8.

RACE 4:

RARE RUBY (10) showed a good turn of speed to win an easier midweek last start but is progressive. Would say odds are rock bottom. DIVINE CITY (3) is well accomplished in these sort of races and is the main danger. TICKET TO DREAM (6) is a good finisher with an in-form stable. Rough chances 4, 8 and 12.

RACE 5:

TAX EVADER (5) was in the wrong mood 1st-up at D'bn and everything went wrong. Trialled brilliantly since and proven fresh with rails alley, is the best bet of the day. LUCKY SOUND (6) is also good fresh and suited at 1200m. SINISTER PRINCE (8) will look winner but 1200m in the city is a concern. Rough chances 2 and 3.

RACE 6:

SPLENDORA (8) was brilliant in 1st-up D'bn maiden win. Big class jump but with in-form stable and Colless suits. Hard to beat. VO HEART (2) missed the kick and was wide first-up D'bn 7th. Do better now. WHISKEY ALLROUND (1) will be on pace but risking at 1200m with 59kg. Rough chances 4, 5 and 6.

RACE 7:

LISTEN SON (2) is a gun in front on firm tracks so gets all the favours today. Appeals strongly both totes. MORNING CAPTAIN (3) had his chance last week but always puts in and gets good trip. POOR JUDGE (4) was good 1st-up and excels 2nd-up. Rough chances 1, 5 and 6.

RACE 8:

Open. CAELLUM (5) was "just" 1st-up but this is an easier race and fitter with 1400m suiting better. LANDSDOWNE ROAD (7) has been impressive past 2 Rocky wins and good alley plus Stewart are pluses. DIENEKES (2) is good 2nd-up and might roll forward today. Rough chances 1, 8, 9, 11, 16 and 17.

BEST BET: TAX EVADER (Race 5).

BEST EACHWAY: SPLENDORA (Race 6).

BEST ROUGHIE: SURFACE TENSION (Race 8).

QUADRELLA: 5, 6 / 2, 4, 6, 8 / 2, 3, 4 / 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 16, 17.
