RACE 1:

I'm not tipping in this. Too many first starters and all have shown some trial promise and there are three who haven't trialled publicly. A "watch" race.

RACE 2:

POSTE RESTANTE (2) has enough weight on a possibly deteriorating track but you can't tip against her on her impressive EF win 2 weeks ago. GOLD CAPE (6) is running honestly and appeals as the quinella hope while BOREHOLE (1) is better than his last run and may be worth another chance. Rough chances 3 and 4.

RACE 3:

AFTER BARON (3) has been trading around $13 on fixed odds and that's terrific value. Gets box seat run and won only assignment at this track and trip. Twice won on heavy is another boost to his chances. SPORTING PAGE (2) was game behind Rocky King at EF and will be hard to beat but 1200m and wet track are some query. CABALLO RAPIDO (7) can run a race fresh (won twice heavy). Rough chances 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 12.

RACE 4:

EMERALD DUKE (7) is new to wet tracks and the mile but he has more potential than any horse in this race. I'm staying with him and hoping for a "G.Colless special" from an awkward gate. DIENEKES (3) goes well in wet and rolls forward off the rails alley. WALHAAN (15) is lightly-raced but promising and handles heavy. Rough chances 2, 4, 9, 10, 12 and 13.

RACE 5:

DOUBTFILLY (1) is a classy mare and is a superior wet tracker. Cahill rides with blinkers back on and she'll finish strongly. Both totes. LIESELE (2) is going well and gets a gun run but a deteriorating track won't assist. DISCREET (3) is first-up but classy and handles wet. Easy trial at Doomben recently. Rough chances 7, 9 and 10.

RACE 6:

RUDY (5) is today's best bet. Terrific first-up 6th EF 1000m when drew wide and flashed late. Up 100m and better drawn and wet track is a plus. Bet with confidence. MISSING PAGE (6) has won her past 3 and drawn the rails so gets a good run. Hardest to beat. NEUSCHWANSTEIN (7) was solid 1st-up. Fitter and handles wet. Rough chances 1, 2 and 3.

RACE 7:

FILLYDELHPIA (2) is a top class mare who has struck form again and with the rails alley and M.Cahill will be hard to beat. Wet track is no worry. BLACK CASH (3) has returned home after an impressive Flemington win and grows a leg in the wet. DOLLY DOLLY (5) is also back from Melbourne and she'll flash late. Rough chances 7, 10, 11, 12 and 13.

RACE 8:

TOP RADA (7) has never run a bad race and his Sunny Coast 2nd last Sunday was a good run. Appeals each-way in an open race. HOLY TOLEDO (13) is an underrated 4yo who finds the line well and will be value odds. VENTURE ON (1) is in-form and handles wet but is yet to run a race at Doomben. Rough chances 4, 5 and 11.

BEST BET: RUDY (Race 6).

BEST EACHWAY: AFTER BARON (Race 3).

BEST ROUGHIE: HOLY TOLEDO (Race 8).

QUADRELLA: 1, 2, 3, 9, 10 / 5, 6, 7 / 2, 3, 5, 7, 13 / 1, 4, 5, 7, 11, 13.
