Form assessed for a Dead 4
Race 1:
GAME OF FAME (4) gets her chance to win in a thin race. Pleasing EF 2nd a fortnight ago and blinkers on today should ensure she settles a little closer to the lead. NO PROBLEM (1) is the logical danger, coming out of the same race when 3rd. Been up a long time though. MISHANI TROY (2) is the possible leader but 1350m is a query. Rough chance 8.
Race 2:
SPARKLING SOUND (4) takes a 2kg weight rise on her latest track and trip win but was ultra impressive and might secure the lead again in a race devoid of pace. PLEASURENA (9) is a Sydney visitor in a good stable with a good jockey and a good gate. Only won 3 from 29 though. MACS ADDICTION (3) will be back near last but will produce a strong finish. Rough chances 1 and 8.
Race 3:
Hard to separate the top three but STAR SAMMY (1) should end up with a good trip and is going well. The 3kg weight rise is not a major concern over the short trip. THE STOREMAN (2) peaked 1st-up but goes like a bomb 2nd-up. Takes catching. PURE PURRFECTION (3) was sound 1st-up and gets the box seat run. Rough chances 4, 5 and 6.
Race 4:
CASARATI (8) is a promising 3yo taking on the older horses but looks to have the scope to deal with them. VALERIE D'AMOUR (4) is an on-pace stayer who is in form but goes up fairly sharply in the weights now. SMILES FOR LAYLA (6) should have won last start and will be a top 3 chance again. Rough chances 1, 7 and 14.
Race 5:
THIS IS WAR (6) is coming off an easier T'ba win but worth pointing out he beat Miss Stash who then won a city midweek. Gets good run here. SHAPIN LADY (10) is a speedy, underrated filly who will go well. Presently generous odds fixed. HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER (8) is lightly-raced and promising but the wide alley is a real concern. Rough chances 2 and 4.
Race 6:
PITT STREET (1) is a Sydney visitor and his three runs this time in have been sound. Well weighted with claim and appeals strongly each-way. ESCOFFIER (8) is in great form this campaign and will look the winner for a major part of the straight. BUAKAW (7) will be flashing late. Rough chances 2 and 11.
Race 7:
Competitive race. DOCTOR DAVID (11) takes a fairly hefty class rise but like the way he is going and should end up with a decent trip here. STEEL ZIP (3) was just beaten in a five-way finish at EF a fortnight ago and this is a similar assignment. BYMONASHEE (8) finished alongside him and must be considered as well. Rough chances 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
Race 8:
FINAL CRESCENDO (6) has been impressive in two GC wins this campaign and this is an ideal city assignment with the good barrier to compliment his gate speed. MORE THAN MONEY (14) ran 2nd track and trip in a strong midweek last start and go well again with 3kg claim. FAITH ‘N’ COURAGE (10) is an on-pacer and in-form. Rough chances 7, 8, 11, 12, 16 and 17.
BEST BET: GAME OF FAME (Race 1)
BEST EACHWAY: DOCTOR DAVID (Race 7)
BEST ROUGHIE: BY CHOICE (Race 8)
QUADRELLA: 4, 6, 8, 10 / 1, 7, 8 / 3, 6, 7, 8, 11 / 6, 10, 11, 14, 16
