RACE 1:

TIME TO PLUNDER (9) took a while to wind up latest EF 1200m win but gets all the favours again and bite out of the track isn't a problem. KEMPELLY (5) is fit, well-drawn and in-form. Sure to look the winner at some stage. ESCOFFIER (12) runs well fresh and G.Boss to ride. Rough chances 2, 3, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 15.

RACE 2:

Not a strong race by Carnival standards. GOODBYE KEVIN (5) only has to run to his GC 3rd to take this out. VELOZ (7) comes off an easy T'ba debut win but plenty to like about the performance. RUNKLE (13) has performed usefully in 2 NSW runs and a few gear changes today. Rough chances 1, 3, 4 and 14.

RACE 3:

SHINJI (2) has produced nifty figures in her 3 wins from as many starts and I think she will make it four straight. KALABEK (6) was a big tip before debut win Caulfield when she missed start but likely to go forward here. SARISARA (1) not helped by a wide alley but past 2 runs sound. Rough chances 3 4, 5, 7, 11, 12 and 17.

RACE 4:

SRIKANDI (3) dominated her rivals in latest GC win and gets all the favours again from the good gate. Very keen on this filly. MINIATURE (8) is a smart Sydneysider and can provide a fairly popular Quinella result. SHES CLEAN (1) has been set for this Carnival. Strong finisher. Rough chance 2.

RACE 5:

PALMERA LAD (10) can provide a minor upset here around $17 fixed. Big finisher and needs to come to the outside. Watch for him flashing late. Very sound 1st-up GC. HUCKLEBUCK (3) is extra smart but first time Queensland way of going. Respect. SAFEGUARD (2) finished well GC 2nd and chance again. Rough chances 1, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13 and 14.

RACE 6:

The market has it right here with ARABIAN GOLD (1) in-form, well-drawn and suited by the dead 5 rating having a slight edge on the ex-Kiwi HERA (3) who was solid at Randwick. Fair gap to local filly CRUZ BY (12) who can run well at odds. Rough chances 2, 7, 8 and 9.

RACE 7:

Can't see the Cup being run at a frantic tempo which will assist LEEBAZ at his first go at WFA and 2000m. Should travel in the box seat and the stable has a big rap on him. JUNOOB (5) is a professional stayer and looks certain to run top 3 while MORIARTY (1) just peaked at GC but fitter now. Rough chances 3, 4, 6 and 8.

RACE 8:

RIVER LAD (2) missed the start in the Victory but normally a go forward horse and will run boldly here. BENNYS BUTTONS (3) is very honest and can run top 3. Rough chances 1, 4, 9, 10 and 11.

BEST BET: SRIKANDI (Race 4).

BEST EACHWAY: RIVER LAD (Race 8).

BEST ROUGHIE: PALMERA LAD (Race 5).

QUADRELLA: 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 / 1, 3 / 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 / 2, 8, 11.
