Form assessed for a ‘good 3.’

RACE 1:

Little between FIXATION (1) and JUMBO PRINCE (2) on their last runs but there is a 4kg turnaround for JUMBO PRINCE who draws better as well so might race a little closer to the lead. FIXATION (1) will run well again because he overcame difficulties to win a fortnight ago. ELJETEM (7) is the improver, stepping up to the 1500m. Rough chances 3, 6, 9 and 13.

RACE 2:

HI SON (1) is not well drawn with a fair weight but his latest EF 2nd in Listed Company is a great form pointer for this. Jockey knows horse well. SOUTHERLY (11) hit the line well last Saturday and last win was at this track and trip. FOREST WAY (4) is first go at 1800m but plenty of zip in his past 2 wins. Rough chances 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

RACE 3:

YEAGAR (13) caught the eye at his only run when he flew home but can race closer to pace here. Impressive triallist recently. LIMEHILLS (11) and HOMEHILL (12) are promising 2yos, probably better than most of the opposition but bad barriers are not pretty. Good rides will be needed. Rough chances 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 15.

RACE 4:

Open race. ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN (10) has a weight drop, a good alley, and ready to win after 3 runs in. Appeals each-way. PULSAR (8) used the fence to win 1st-up at D'bn midweek but can be even fitter now. HEARTBREAK HARRY (5) ran well EF a fortnight ago and has always shown promise at GC. Rough chances 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13.

RACE 5:

BILLY AUCASH (2) has been respectable at past 2 runs in Listed sprint company. Goes to suitable distance, drops in class and has a 3kg claim. Fixed odds seem attractive. ELMANTOSH (1) has been going super during the Carnival so the class drop is a big plus. FRETON (5) finished off nicely EF 6th a fortnight ago and rails alley assists. Rough chances 6, 8, 10, 12 and 13.

RACE 6:

BYMONASHEE (9) should have won EF 3rd a fortnight ago and will appreciate a strong tempo here. Watch him flash home. EXCELLANTES (1) will be well ridden by Browne and will look the winner somewhere in the straight. FACILE TIGRE (2) has caught the eye past 2 and will be finishing off strongly. Rough chances 3, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 12.

RACE 7:
I don't know if POP N SCOTCH (11) can run 3200m but he is a promising staying 3yo and in form at the moment. I'll take the gamble. BRAYROAN (2) has a great form-line on his latest Sunshine Coast Cup win. EIGHTS A PARTY (10) is back from Sydney and gives the impression he will run 2 miles. Rough chances 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 12.

RACE 8:

QFIGHTER (5) is well placed in this race on his overall form and well weighted into the bargain. Ridden cold, he'll come with a big run. LUCKY BAA (7) is normally faultless at the jump but missed away first-up at Ipswich and did well. Can lead here. ROBBERS ROOST (12) goes well on latest EF 2nd track and trip. Rough chances 2, 8 and 10.

BEST BET: HI SON (Race 2).

BEST EACHWAY: QFIGHTER (Race 8).

BEST ROUGHIE: BILLY AUCASH (Race 5).

QUADRELLA: 1, 2, 5, 6 / 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 / 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12 / 2, 5, 7, 12.
