DOOMBEN, NOVEMBER 8: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Saturday, November 8, 2014
Form assessed for a good 3.
RACE ONE:
THE WILDMAN (1) is the logical selection, based on its unlucky debut then track and trip win last Saturday. Nevertheless, I will query first starters COOKIE’S CARIOCA (3) and SUPERSAY (8) who have already met with support at fixed odds. Rough chances 2 and 6.
RACE TWO:
Tactical affair with only five runners but think BUSH AVIATOR (5) will lead and control. Solid track and trip 4th a fortnight ago. DARCI BE GOOD (2) has been freshened and will be stalking. Won’t be much in it at the business end. FLYING HOME (3) takes 3rd spot. Rough chances 6 and 7.
RACE THREE:
Wide open but think SALUT THE SOLUTION (7) is excellent value at $13 fixed. Good alley, light weight and racing well. Won up to 2100m in NSW. ARCTIC (6) is a non-winner( 4 from 38) but is going well enough to be considered a top 3 chance. HORA SEXTA (2)( has been honest under these conditions. Rough chances 1, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10.
RACE FOUR:
Good race. VINTAGE MOSS (1) must overcome the outside alley but has the speed to achieve this. Must be ridden aggressively early. Good 1st-up 2nd to smart Love Rocks. THE STOREMAN (4) is honest and gets all the favours from the rails gate while WHISKEY ALLROUND (9) did well 1st-up Ipswich win. Genuine concern at a strong 1200m. Rough chances 5, 6 and 10.
RACE FIVE:
QUEEN OF THE LOCHS (3) was good 1st-up and even better 2nd-up a fortnight ago. No reason she won’t keep taking the step forward and beat several of these a fortnight ago. Keen. ELUSIVE STORM (2) and DISCREET (1) were in her wake in that race but are above-average and consistent. Top 3 hopes again. Rough chances 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9.
RACE SIX:
ABADDON (9) is progressive type who didn’t run time latest track and trip win but was quite arrogant. Another level now but selected. GUNDY SPIRIT (4) is in-form and is the logical danger. THE WHITE HOPE (1) returns to the city but seems to have lost his way slightly. Rough chances 2, 3 and 13.
RACE SEVEN:
BEAU JET (7) has been ultra-impressive in 2 Sunshine Coast wins, delivering brilliant sectionals. Confident he will make city grade. I AM BOSS (2) doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Save on him. JUMBO PRINCE (1) wants it further but did run well fresh last campaign. Rough chances 4, 8 and 11.
BEST BET: BEAU JET (Race 7).
BEST EACHWAY: VINTAGE MOSS (Race 4).
BEST ROUGHIE: SALUT THE SOLUTION (Race 3).
QUADRELLA: 1, 4, 5, 9 / 1, 2, 3 6, 8 / 4, 9 / 1, 2, 7.
