DOOMBEN JANUARY 31: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Saturday, January 31, 2015
Form assessed for a good 4 (perfect surface).
RACE 1:
DOUBLE IMPACT (1) looked good in winning S/Coast at first middle distance attempt and delivered an impressive sectional. No reason why he can’t win again with same weight. BEST OF THE REST (5) is an ex Sydneysider and deserves respect. Goes forward. FLYING HOME (2) can mix his form but was a track and trip winner 2 runs ago. Rough chances 3.
RACE 2:
Difficult. LUJAC (7) ran well on debut and the experience will help. NEW ENDEAVOUR (3) has come straight to the city after debut win at Gunnedah. Worth respect. PRIVLAKA (8) is on debut. Blinkers at first start and monitor market. Rough chances 1, 2 and 4.
RACE 3:
First starter EGYPTIAN MELODY (3) has been well backed in fixed odds markets and there is a strong tip around the traps. Doesn’t strike a hard race and has looked good at the jump-outs. SECRET SAGA (7) is also on debut and has also been backed in fixed odds betting. CRAIGLEA ZIP (1) has pace and race experience. Rough chances 2.
RACE 4:
VIENNA QUEEN (5) is a quick mare and capable of running fast time on the lead as she did last time out at Ipswich. Gets her chance in the city today. ESPIRITU (3) has never missed a cheque and set for this 1st-up. Will finish well. TIGER DIMEJAN (1) has to a top 3 consideration after a very impressive midweek win this track. Rough chances 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11.
RACE 5:
Keen on KNIGHT TEMPLAR (2). Has done nothing wrong in three local runs and drawn to get all the favours in this. GOOD JOB BRO (11) doesn’t win out of turn but will get a good run here and down 4kg. Ran handy races in a winter campaign here last year. BIG DECISION (6) is handy fresh and will run home late. Rough chances 7, 8, 9 and 12.
RACE 6:
Michael Cahill rides ARCHITECT (8) for the first time and if he can put him to sleep and come with one run he will be hard to beat. LONDEHERO (10) is fresh for this and will finish well. EXCELLANTES (1) should secure the front but is he past his best? Rough chances 3, 4, 9 and 11.
RACE 7:
VIENNA ROYALE (4) is a month between runs but with his gate speed and a favourable alley, it should pan out well in running which makes him hard to beat now that he has found winning form again. DIVINE SERVICE (2) has been good at the S/Coast this campaign but can’t afford a slow jump which happens sometimes. SAGATONA (13) is still a maiden but has a good finish. Watch late. Rough chances 8, 11 and 15.
RACE 8:
QUEEN OF THE LOCHS (4) is a talented mare and drawn to either lead or box-seat. Comes off a brave S/Coast 2nd in quick time. Keen on her. TUKIYO (1) gets a better trip here (one alley and Colless) than at GC so improvement can be expected. PICKABEE (6) ran well 1st-up at GC and is suited against own sex. Fitter, too. Rough chances 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11.
RACE 9:
There is no better form line than OUR BOY NICHOLAS’ (1) 2nd to Tinto at GC on MM day. Well weighted with claim and good gate a plus. Whatever beats him will win. L’ENTRECOTE (7) is ready to strike at 3rd run back and good gate and claim are pluses. EIGHT’S A PARTY (6) will give them a start but is a strong finisher. Rough chances 2, 4, 5, 10 and 14.
RACE 10:
REAL FAVULOUS (12) is drawn widely but has the tactical speed to roll forward and will be very competitive in this company. PRO CONSUL (6) needs some early luck to find cover but must respect on latest S/Coast 2nd. FRENCH LESSON (8) is a North Queenslander and ran well here last year. Good fresh. Rough chances 2, 10, 11 and 14.
BEST BET: OUR BOY NICHOLAS
BEST EACHWAY: REAL FAVULOUS
BEST ROUGHIE: GOOD JOB BRO
QUADRELLA: 2, 4, 8, 11, 13, 15 / 1, 3, 4, 6 / 1, 7 / 2, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14.
