DOOMBEN, FEBRUARY 7: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Saturday, February 7, 2015
Selections based on a Good 3 ... perfect surface.
RACE 1:
Impossible to go past favourite MISHANI HONCHO (1). Four times metro winner and really firing at the moment. Quite well weighted allowing for the claim. Stablemate MISHANI DI CAPRIO (2) is speedy and honest and should provide the quinella result. MONACO PLAYBOY (4) is best of the others. Rough chances 3, 7 and 8.
RACE 2:
ALLKNIGHT SAINT (4) looked good winning at S/Coast and with the good gate should take a favourable spot. Hardest to beat. Similarly BODEGA NEGRA (6) was good in winning at the same track but did follow the rail home. Lands behind ALLKNIGHT SAINT in running here. HARADA BAY (1) was ridden upside down at S/Coast but a slight reservation about running a strong mile. Rough chances 3 and 8.
RACE 3:
PALMERA LAD (9) has lost some of the gloss on him but his three runs in have been solid without being spectacular. Down in class on last run and the smallish field is a plus to his prospects. SIGMUND (3) is honest and rolls forward here to get a good run. A bit of a tip building for THAT'LLBEGOOD (10) after a sound run first-up at Ipswich. Rough chances 3 and 6.
RACE 4:
Wide open with several handy types competing. RED CLAW (5) has looked good at S/Coast and blinkers back on and the one alley are key advantages. Fairly keen to back both totes. ROCKLORD (8) comes out of a track and trip maiden win but always had an opinion of this three-year-old. Strong type. MAX IT OUT (8) is going great guns, winning past two at the track and trip. Many other chances. Rough chances 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7.
RACE 5:
Sydney visitor ARTIBAI (6) has the right profile for this race. Lightly-raced import and should have won at Warwick Farm last start. D.Browne and the good gate are important pluses. TRY FOUR (3) is a consistent and genuine stayer who had little luck at S/Coast last start. VODNIK (4) is a progressive type, rising in class on two easy middle distance wins in weaker company. Rough chances 2, 5, 7, 8, 9 10 and 11.
RACE 6:
Can't fault DIAMOND FUND (2) who chases her fourth straight win today. A go forward type and finds the line strongly. Can win again. FRIENDLY DRAGON (4) is competitive this campaign and appeals as the hardest to beat. Also will be handy in running. RENEWED VITALITY (1) was ridden upside down at S/Coast and will go better here with cover. Rough chances 6, 7, 9 and 10.
RACE 7:
Wide open and a mad hurry-scurry. MR FAVULOUS (5) doesn't win out of turn in the city but might end up with the right run with the right gate. D.Browne is also another tick in the box. NUCLEAR CLASS (7) is a quick NSW visitor and is well weighted. Will give a good sight. One can't fault how PLATEAU GOLD (3) is racing at the moment. Many other possibilities. Rough chances 4, 6, 9 and 12.
RACE 8:
STORM CRAZY (5) finally comes to the city. A fast beginner, he has an exemplary record at the distance, winning 8 of 11. Certain leader from the rails and will take catching. ARCHITECT (1) keeps running well but doesn't win. REMAGEN BRIDGE (15) is an interesting newcomer with sound Victorian form. Alley no help. Rough chances 2, 9, 11 and 12.
BEST BET: MISHANI HONCHO (Race 1).
BEST EACHWAY: RED CLAW (Race 4).
BEST ROUGHIE: RAINBOW MAGIC (Race 6).
QUADRELLA: 3, 4, 6, 10 / 1, 2, 4, 10 / 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12 / 1, 5, 9, 12, 14.
