RACE 1:

HANDFAST (5) doesn’t have to improve too much to turn the tables on REAL GOOD (1) after their quinella result at Sunshine Coast a fortnight ago. A better draw and the extra 150m are the two factors that can reverse the result. BRING A SECRET (3) was respectable in the Sires and this is easier. Rough chances 2, 7, 11 and 13.

RACE 2:

Keen on SEEKING MORE (4). This isn't a vintage Lightning and he is ultra consistent, coming off a fantastic 2nd in the Bribie at Sunshine Coast a fortnight ago. Better draw today is a big plus. I rate the $5 fixed as generous. THE STOREMAN (5) will be an improver on his numerical form because he is perfectly boxed off the rails. WHITTINGTON'(6) has some chance. Rough chances 1, 2 and 9.

RACE 3:

FRESPANOL (6) can continue the excellent trot the Sydneysiders are having at the Carnival. Simply, he looks better than his rivals, coming off a great second in the Scone Cup. Local TRAKSTAR (7) can offer the best opposition, suited to these conditions and in-form. DARCI BE GOOD (2) will be on pace and is honest. Fair odds, too. Rough chances 1, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 12.

RACE 4:

Not certain and not keen to bet here. FORETELLER has run well in the Hollindale and Doomben Cup and the small field offsets his racing pattern of getting out of his ground. It might be his turn today. MORIARTY (2) has followed a similar path and is going just as well while IM IMPOSING (4) can complete the Waller trifecta. Rough chances 5 and 7.

RACE 5:

BALL OF MUSCLE (4) boasts a great strike rate (7 from 12) and the one alley is an important plus. Likely to keep the rival speed out but could take cover and boxseat if there was sustained pressure. Tempo will be strong whatever scenario pans out and that suits OFFICE BEARER (7) and FALINO (6) who are both attractively priced. Rough chances 1, 2, 3 and 5.

RACE 6:

Tipping a blowout here with SATURN ROCK (8). The rails gate is ideal and this sparingly raced mare is effective 2nd up and chased home nicely in the Bribie. Ran 2nd in this race last year and you won't find a better longshot anywhere in Australia. DUBLIN LASS (5) maps to get a good run while BONETE (15) will be on speed and looks above average. Rough chances 2, 6, 9 and 13.

RACE 7:

Happy to be with the favourite WINX (2). Totally dominant in the Sunshine Coast Guineas and only needs a trouble free run to be too quick and too strong for these fillies. SEBRINA (11) had no luck at Randwick last Saturday and appeals as a promising stayer while ZARZALI (15) is the best roughie in the race. Rough chances 4, 6, 10 and 13.

RACE 8:

GOOD PROJECT (2) is going well and only has to overcome the wide gate to be a potent force in this. Melbourne visitor DURENDAL (3) is chasing a hat trick and is the main danger while SHES MISS DEVINE (12) can make it a cosmopolitan trifecta. Rough chances 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

BEST BET: FRESPANOL (Race 3).

BEST EACHWAY: SEEKING MORE (Race 2).

BEST ROUGHIE: SATURN ROCK (Race 6).

QUADRELLA: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 / 2, 5, 8, 15 / 2, 4, 11 / 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 12.
