MY CALL - THE $12 MILLION QUESTION AS THE WAIT CONTINUES FOR THAT EAGLE FARM ANNOUNCEMENT
By David Fowler | Tuesday, June 30, 2015

The $12million loan approval for the Eagle Farm tunnels will be announced sooner than later.
The word is out “all bets are off” on previous decisions made by the deposed boards but the Eagle Farm project will get the green light.
That’s not to say other infrastructure projects will secure a saloon passage. Quite the opposite.
Closer scrutiny of infrastructure business cases will rely heavily on what return they give to the industry.
The interim Racing Queensland administration understands Eagle Farm being out of play has dealt a deadly blow to Queensland thoroughbred turnover.
It is in their interest, as much as BRC and the racing industry, to have the premier track up and running.
ASAP!

I’ve been asked by many people to expand on last week’s comment of possible prizemoney cuts to thoroughbred racing.

Two people walked off Doomben track last weekend with beaming smiles but pondering different futures.

After honing her craft in north Queensland and then Toowoomba, she is poised to be in future city demand with a valuable 3 kilo claim.
Only a half an hour later, Matt McGuren completed a fairytale end to his apprenticeship, riding last race winner In The Genes.
McGuren who has battled seriously with weight issues was unable to use his 2kg claim in his final ride as an apprentice. As Emma looks ahead, so does Matt, but in a very different way.

Some frank post race comments are like a breath of fresh air.
Veteran trainer John Morrisey calls it as he sees it and he wasn’t about to change even after Water Boy breezed home in the $100,000 Brisbane Town Plate.
“He’s got plenty of flea in him. Plenty of mischief. If he didn’t he might make a nice horse,” Morrisey pointed out.
Onya John!

It was hard not to be carried away by Golden Falls’ dynamic finish last Saturday.
She picked them off one by one and won with consummate ease.
The opposition was more than handy and her sectionals were impressive.
She stood out like a sore thumb on a delightful winter’s day.
