SUNSHINE COAST, JULY 4: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Saturday, July 4, 2015
Form assessed for a soft 7 ... rail true, fair for all runners.
RACE 1:
ELUSIVE CATCH (3) doesn’t have to do much more than her latest GC 1400m win to score again. Carries same weight and soft conditions suit. WATER KISS (5) is always competitive and last start 2nd track and trip. Hardest to best. CRUZ BY (11) gives them a start but hits line well. Rough chances 6, 10, 12 and 13.
RACE 2:
FIERY HEIGHTS (5) has been sound in 2 midweek runs Ipswich and D’bn and 1400m seems ideal. Maps well. REAL GOOD (1) will appreciate this easier class on his home track but a slight concern at a strong 1400m. HALLS CREEK (10) trialled well before sound Ipswich Saturday run on debut. Can take improvement from that. Rough chances 2, 9, 12, 14, 15 and 16.
RACE 3:
Not keen. Pace seems average. ADDICTIVE HABIT (1) beat a similar line-up at GC a fortnight ago and hard to beat again with one kilo more. EPIC (2) ran behind Addictive Habit at GC and has been competitive this campaign. TINTS (8) ran into some strife in Rocky Cup and some chance with light weight. Rough chances 4, 5 and 6.
RACE 4:
ZAHA’S ACE (6) disappointed 1st-up but is better than that. Certain leader and might take catching. AUSSIES LOVE SPORT (3) arrives from Sydney with creditable form so should be competitive in this. DOUBLE IMPACT (2) likes wet and can run well fresh. Not the worst. Rough chance 4.
RACE 5:
FELTRE (5) profiles excellently for this. Likes track, lies soft going and is in form. Maps to get a great run. ALLKNIGHT SAINT (1) was respectable 1st-up and goes well 2nd-up. L’ENTRECOTE (2) has been sound in 2 runs this time in and goes well again. Rough chances 3, 7, 8, 9, 13 and 16.
RACE 6:
Can’t get too enthused even though I’m a fan of two mile races. MONACO DOLL (7) ran well in the Tatts Cup at GC and gives the impression she will run the two miles. Maybe eachway. MAJOR MAJOR (2) is racing honestly and likes wet. Did fail in this race last year. MISTER IMPATIENCE (3) has won up to 300m in Melbourne. Rough chances 1, 4 and 5.
RACE 7:
BEAU JET (2) was not quite up to Carnival standard but this race suits well. Big field generates a lot of pace and he appreciates that, zooming home late. This is his best distance. I AM BOSS (1) secures a good run from the rails gate and will be competitive while DENARIUS (5) is smart and will be late finisher. Rough chances 10, 13 and 14.
RACE 8:
GLENBAWN DAME (2) led and knocked up on Ipswich Cup day but will be better ridden just off the pace here and then hit the line. TIME TO EXCEED (13) was unbeaten in 5 runs last campaign and has trialled well 1st-up for this. Respect. HALLSIDE ROSE (14) has been kept fresh and some hope with the light weight. Rough chances 5, 6 and 16.
BEST BET: FELTRE (Race 5).
BEST EACHWAY: BEAU JET (Race 7).
BEST ROUGHIE: WICKED SNIPPETS (Race 2).
QUADRELLA: 1, 2, 5, 8 / 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 / 1, 2, 5, 14, 17 / 2, 6, 13, 14, 16.
