Form prepared for a good 3 surface (rail true, ideal track today).

RACE 1:

Hard to go past HONESTA (5) in a weak race. Last 2 runs S/C 1400m and track and trip have been encouraging. HALLS CREEK (4) appeals as the second pick but hard to see him turning the tables on HONESTA. Fair gap then to SHOW COMMAND (1). Rough chance 2.

RACE 2:

SATIRICAL LASS (1) was a space job last time out. Only up 1.5kg and should do it again. LUCKY NEWS (2) was solid in latest GC win and afforded all the favours here while PRADNYA (9) isn’t hopeless after a handy SC run last Sunday. Rough chances 3, 4 and 7.

RACE 3:

SHOTOVER RIVER (2) and FRETON (3) battled it out track and trip a fortnight ago and no reason, in my opinion, for the tables to be turned. KAISER FRANZ (9) is a promising stayer who won here 3 weeks ago. Is that formline weaker or stronger than that of SHOTOVER RIVER and FRETON. Weaker, I feel. Rough chances 1, 6, 7, 8.

RACE 4:

L’ENTRECOTE (3) has been competitive this time in and finally draws a decent alley. Should be foolproof eachway. FIXATION (12) will run well from the rails gate. Save on it. LOCKS LEGEND (1) was respectable 1st-up and runs well second-up. Improver. Rough chances 2, 4, 5, 7, 8.

RACE 5:

KATELETTE (9) doesn’t win out of turn (2 from 13) but afforded all the favours today with the rails gate, right trip, and against own sex. LESLEYS CHOICE (1) will look the winner but has to carry the 59kg? HIGHLY GEARED (5) maps well and can finish top 3. Rough chances 3, 4, 6, 7, 10.

RACE 6:

BORN TO BE EASY (20) has been dynamic in Casino and Grafton wins this campaign. Alley not pretty but only needs normal luck to run these down. DANTGA (13) also profiles well from the Northern Rivers and will be in front of BORN TO BE EASY in running. BUSH CAVIAR (2) will give cheek from the good gate. Rough chances 1, 3, 5, 9.

RACE 7:

MURDER OF CROWS (11) is ex-Waller, now trained at GC. Excels 1st-up, watch for a strong finish. SUIT (12) ran well 1st-up and gets all the favours here. Run well. CHOICE BRO (1) was impressive track and trip last start and can certainly run well again. Rough chances 2, 5, 6, 7.

RACE 8:

LUCKY TOM (6) was stiff last start to be run down after working hard to lead. Won’t have that much trouble today. FELTRE (1) will be a formidable rival but can he give LUCKY TOM 6kg? I say no. LAUTERBRUNNEN (11) will run home well.

BEST BET: LUCKY TOM.

BEST EACHWAY: BORN TO RUN EASY.

NO BEST ROUGHIE.
