DOOMBEN, DECEMBER 12: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...
By David Fowler | Friday, December 11, 2015
Please note form assessed a day before the Saturday morning final scratchings deadline. NB: Please check final fields for any changes on the day.
Form assessed for a good 3 surface.
RACE 1:
ANNAMAN (3) was significantly inconvenienced when a runner broke down here a fortnight ago. Big win here before that. Should get all the favours in this. MR LEBROCK (6) was nearly just as good as ANNAMAN in that race and has been placed up to 2400m in NSW. SAN TELMO (9) arrives with solid Sydney form. He’s no world beater but a good alley and Browne are definite pluses. Rough chances 5, 10, 11 and 12.
RACE 2:
Doubt anything will head the visiting ACT sprinter CHIEF OF THE CLAN. With Colless up and a promising record, I am selecting him to do it from start to finish. MR FAVULOUS (3) was good 1st-up in front this track and trip. Doesn’t get as sweet a run now but will be competitive. ESPIRITU (7) is an above-average mare who will be finding the line. Two runs this campaign have been good. Rough chances 6, 9, 11 and 13.
RACE THREE:
Keen on MR JETSET (7) eachway. Drawn right and there shouldn’t be any hard luck stories in this. Attractively priced. GLENDARA (1) is the form runner with the rails alley to boot. A month between runs? Can TOTAL AUTHORITY (4) keep backing up and has to carry 57kg. You can’t fault the form. Rough chances 3, 6 and 9.
RACE FOUR:
Weak race for the male juveniles. SUNDANCE (3) should take benefit from debut 2nd here a fortnight ago and the rails alley is a bonus. PUNISHING (1) hasn’t run for 49 days but beat them easily here at 1110m last run. Wide alley is a major concern. KUBIS (6) was fair on debut and this stables’ runners generally improve at their second start. Rough chances 2,6 and 10. No data on 8 9 and 12
RACE FIVE:
The girls are much classier. ZELADYS NIGHT OUT (3) ran the second quickest metropolitan time for a juvenile in debut win a month ago. She leads and whatever beats her will win. SERENAS PRIDE (6) has pace and would have won had she not raced greenly on debut at Warwick Farm. Form out of the race is good. THE LAST KISS (2) overcame difficulties in debut win 3 weeks ago but might be giving the other pair a start. Rough chances 4, 5, 7 and 8. No data on 9, 10 and 12.
RACE SIX:
BRITAILA KATE (7) is on a 7-day back up but profiles to secure the run of the race and G.Boss stays with her. Should be foolproof eachway. REMAGEN BRIDGE (3) is versatile, past 2 runs here sound and seems generous odds around $11 fixed. SOLDI DOMANI (10) is fitter after 1st-up 3rd here 3 weeks ago. Rough chances 2, 4, 5 and 6.
RACE SEVEN:
Competitive race. MY GIRL HAYLEY (13) was 3 wide, no cover 1st-up 3rd here a fortnight ago. Fitter and drawn to get an ideal trip now. Hard to beat. MADOTTI (9) will go close, ridden quietly and saved for one dash at them. SOLD FOR SONG (14) has done nothing wrong in 2 runs and drawn the fence. Rough chances 2, 3, 5, 8, 11 and 12.
RACE EIGHT:
Keen on SALUTER (6) to deliver a carbon copy performance of what he did here a fortnight ago at the track and trip. The 1:18.32 figure posted can win this harder race and the rails draw ensures he doesn’t have to use too much energy early. GUNDY SPIRIT (8) is ready to strike at his favourite track and distance. Save on him. STEEL ZIP (3) is in rare form and must be considered as a winning possibility. Rough chances 1, 2 and 10.
RACE NINE:
Hard not to like OUR BOY NICHOLAS’ (2) 1st-up 5th here a fortnight ago. Out to the mile is right and he will be hard to beat. GLORIOUS RED (12) secures a good run and although she only fell in at Ipswich, the wet track was against her. FELTRE (3) is getting fitter all the time and will be motoring late. Rough chances 10, 11 and 16.
BEST BET: MR JETSET (Race 3).
BEST EACHWAY: MY GIRL HAYLEY (Race 7).
BEST ROUGHIE: REMAGEN BRIDGE (Race 6).
QUADRELLA: 2, 3, 5, 7, 10 / 2, 3, 9, 13, 14 / 2, 3, 6, 8, 9 / 2, 3, 10, 11, 12.
