RAND AUG 22 - TRUSTING’S FIVE STAR PERFORMANCE
By HRO | Wednesday, August 26, 2009
Randwick, August 22, 2009. Warwick Stakes (Group 2 - 3yo and up, WFA) - 1400m. Time: 1-21.59. Track - Good. 1 Trusting; O’Lonhro; Mr Baritone.
When he entered the racing scene, many questioned Nathan Tinkler's massive spending spree and his decision to put the relatively unknown Jason Coyle in charge of the operation. However both decisions are proving to be very wise as the Patinack Farm team scored yet another Group winner in the shape of outstanding prospect Trusting.
At only his third race start the three year old carrying just 50.5kg gave his older rivals a lesson in class coming from well back to swamp his tiring opposition.
With a hot pace being set up front by the heavily backed Court Command , Chris Munce had Trusting near last and the widest runner approaching the turn, but when he asked him for an effort the horse responded in a manner which suggests Group 1 wins are in the not too distant future.
The lightly race O'Lonhro battled on well for second after sitting in a nice spot throughout.
The luckless Racing To Win also looks as though he has come back well and should improve on this run after being looked after in the straight when encountering traffic problems.
WINNER FEEDBACK: Trainer Jason Coyle: “He is a superstar in the making. I can't wait for the Autumn. He is still so raw. He still wanted to over-race back in the field. Chris (Munce) cuddled him around the corner. He hit the line hard. I'm over the moon with the way he was ridden and the way the horse has come through it. He stands above everyone and hopefully over the next few months he will show that.”
Jockey Chris Munce: “How do you describe this horse? He could be a superstar ... it's hard to put a limit on him at the moment. Look, I never thought it was sort of done and dusted that he could win from where he was. I knew he would have to be pretty tough to do it that way, but look I sort of thought about a furlong to half a furlong out ... he's got the better of these horses and with his weight I just thought he would keep going. Distance and quality wise you just can't put a limit on him.”
STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT: Vision And Power, which was slow to begin, had to be checked shortly afterwards when taken out by Court Command onto the heels of Trusting. At the 1000m Dreamscape had to be steadied off the heels of Court Command (D Browne), which shifted in. D Browne was told to ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground in future.
Racing To Win was held up for a run and near the 200m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between Voice Commander and O’Lonhro and did not obtain clear running until the 100m.
