MY CALL - NO CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR IAN HALL. THERE WILL BE A NEW INTERIM CEO AT RACING QUEENSLAND

Former BRC committeeman Sam Adams will assume the role of interim CEO at Racing Queensland when KPMG's Ian Hall walks out the door on Thursday week.
Hall was long odds to secure an extension on his contract.
It is believed he requested it as it made sense for a transition or a handover to the new CEO who will be appointed by the yet to be announced interim Board.
Adams handles RQ's legal matters but has been a significant player on "all things important" since last June's upheaval.
He has a great passion and an improving knowledge of the racing industry.
How "interim" he will be is the burning question.

What is happening in George Street?
Two weeks ago this blog confidently predicted an announcement of an interim Board was imminent. Even by the end of that week.
But the only thing that is emanating is silence.
Corporates will have itchy fingers to start framing markets on what date it will be announced.

The Queensland Racing Integrity Bill will face difficulties being passed the way the numbers are currently stacked.
That we know.
But the contents of the Bill itself didn't receive a ringing endorsement either from the Parliament Agriculture and Environment committee.
Several recommendations were included amongst veiled criticisms.
One of the committee's chief gripes was that there was not enough consultation with the industry in the compilation of the Bill.
Gee, that's a surprise.
Concern over the costs of the proposed Integrity Commission was also paramount in the committee's findings.

Racing Queensland and Ubet are business partners and are working as such.
It's good to see a concept like the Super Six Trainers Challenge which can benefit both parties and the racing industry in general.
It provides different betting types for Ubet at a key time of the year while Racing Queensland achieves some extra gloss for our biggest gig in the racing year.
Major prizes aren't bad either. A BMW or a Kentucky Derby VIP trip is a good choice to have.
