Darren Winningham is a well-known figure around racetracks in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Darren’s passion for the racing game in general and his love of the punt in particular, coupled with the broad experience and knowledge he has gained over the last twenty-five years in the game, makes him a very welcome addition to HRO’s expanding team of tipsters. ‘Winno’s Winners’ will appear every Friday on HRO.

Punters should have some luck at Randwick. The track should be dead come race day giving every horse a fair chance.

Race 7 – BMW Australian Derby (Group 1)

Tarzino (1) looks the one to beat after a blistering performance in the Rosehill Guineas. Expect a big improvement from Vanbrugh (2) from the Waller stable to be ridden by Hugh Bowman now it is back on the big open Randwick track.

Race 8 – Darley TJ Smith Stakes (Group 1)

A great Group 1 field. The WFA conditions probably rule out a few chances. Exosphere (14) to improve second run back from a spell. Has a great record as well with 2 wins from three starts second up. The favourite Chautauqua (1) is a war horse and will be certain to finish in the first two.

The mighty mare Winx (3) deserves to be favourite. But this handicap mile can throw up a few odd winners each year. Watch out for an improved performance from Kermadec (1) back onto the big Randwick track.

Well you do not want to be losing coming to this race. Anything can win. If you have to have a bet Sacred Eye (1) and Heartlings (3) look to be the best of them.
