WINNO'S WINNERS: SCONE, MAY 14
By Darren Winningham | Friday, May 13, 2016
Last week WINNO’s WINNERS had a good day at Rosehill with a few winners. The rail is true and the track usually plays even – with leaders and swoopers all getting a chance at the prize if they are good enough. The track should be rated SOFT for the meeting.
NB: As this form assessment was made prior to raceday, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day.

Race 1
I think Duca Valentinois (3) was beaten by the poor track at Hawkesbury the other week. I hope it can improve on an even surface this week. Murphy’s Delight (2) has been racing well in restricted classes.
Selections: 3-2-4-9

Race 2
Unbeaten recently in two recent trials Barood (14) looks set to run a bold race. After winning in Toowoomba impressively Brooklyn Storm (8) failed last start at Warwick Farm, running third. Hot Hit (11) has a great record at the track winning two of its three starts and has had the benefit of some recent trials – sure to be rated well by Robert Thompson and may be some value into the exotics.
Selections: 14-8-11-3. Rough chance 2.

Race 3 – Woodlands Stakes (Listed Race)
Manaya (17) is a first starter undefeated in two trials – trained by Michael Costa. He is hoping the horse gets in the field as it has been well supported since markets have opened. Irish Sea (14) led at Hawkesbury and was run down in the shadow of the post – trained by Gai Waterhouse it should improve on the big Scone track. The Godolphin horse Nonpariel (4) has won a recent trial and looks the one to beat.
Selections: 4-14-17-1
********************************************************************************************************
Race 4 – Coolmore Stakes (Listed Race)
Alart (1) is undefeated at the track in three starts but has drawn wide. I have just realised I have tipped a Bjorn Baker trifecta here. With the form the stable has been in lately it probably will happen. His trio of Sangiovese (5), Roeinda (7) and Credit Card Miss (13) all could run well.
Selections: 5-7-13-4. Rough chance 1 and 6.

Race 5 – Inglis 3YO Guineas
Spill the Beans (1) has been well backed this week to win the Guineas. Supply and Demand (4) looks the hardest to beat here. ` Selections: 1-4-7-8

Race 6 – Luskin Star Stakes (Listed Race)
Music Magnate (2) resumed winning the Hallmark Stakes a month ago. The horse has won a recent barrier trial. The locally trained Clearly Innocent has won in its past four starts – Greg Bennett will be hoping for a local win on his home track. I think these two are the hardest to beat here. Unequivocal (8) needs the speed on but is down and weight and sure to be flashing late.
Selections: 2-7-6-8
********************************************************************************************************
Race 7- Godolphin Dark Jewel Classic (Group 3)
Usually a good form race with the placegetters continuing their journey north to the Brisbane Racing Carnival. Some good horses have won the race in recent years. I am not sure of the quality of the field this year but I am tipping Gibbo (Andrew Gibbons) with the knowledge of the track to get Hetty Heights (11) home. The other chances Ammirata (6) and Danish Twist (7) have both drawn wide here and will need some luck. Artistry (2) was beaten by the Hawkesbury track last start, but prior to that had some good runs. The locally trained In A Wink (13) could be the roughie to knock them out.
Selections: 11-6-7-2. Rough chances 4 and 13.

Race 8 – Ortensia Stakes (Listed Race)
That’s A Good Idea (1) won this race impressively last year and has had three weeks off since its latest run at Caulfield in a Listed Race. Furnaces (6) won well last start beating Inz ‘n’ Out (7) who has been scratched from the Doomben meeting to run here. Kaepernick (8) has been impressive at the trials winning two in preparation for this tough assignment, but with the King of the Coal Fields riding, Robert Thompson I am declaring it! Pro Consul (13) has an amazing record at the track with six wins and two placings from eight starts.
Selections 8-1-6-7 with rough chance 13.
