By Graham Potter | Tuesday, September 8, 2009
Sunshine Coast, September 6, 2009. Track - Good 3. Rail - True. 3yo QTIS Class 1 Handicap - 1000m. Time: 59.09. 1 Andy Said; 2 Rocky Habit; 3 Eyelady.
The Carmel Richardson trained Andy Said is now two from two this prep after again accounting for his opposition with a late flourish under a well-judged, powerful ride from Gary Geran. The lightly raced gelding now has two wins to his credit from only five starts.
WINNER FEEDBACK: Trainer Carmel Richardson: “Yeah, it was pretty well the same run as last time (when Andy Said won over 1030m at Doomben). He sat in behind the lead and pulled out and timed the finish beautifully. He was very strong at the line. He needs a bit further than that. They a bit short for him these races. Two-in-a-row is always good. We’re pretty happy with him.”
STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT Top Messiah (O. Turpin), which began awkwardly, was tightened for room shortly after the start between Andy Said (G. Geran), which shifted out, and Craiglea Apollo (A. Kitson), which shifted in.
Approaching the 700m, Daneodin (S. Kennedy) shifted in, making contact with Craiglea Apollo. Nearing the 600m, Craiglea Apollo shifted out, forcing Daneodin wider on the track. Near the 450m, Andy Said, shifted out, making contact with Craiglea Apollo, which in turn shifted out, causing Daneodin to shift wider on the track.
M. Dorrington, rider of Dusty's Felt, was found guilty of a charge under AR137A(1)(5), in that he did use his whip in a forehand manner in consecutive strides on more than 3 occasions behind the saddle inside the 200m than is permissible under the rules. M. Dorrington was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 4 meetings, to commence at midnight, 6 September 2009 and to expire at midnight, 13 September 2009. Stewards also ordered that he forfeit his riding fee, plus his prizemoney percentage.
