MY CALL: WINX DESERVES A CRACK AT THE WORLD STAGE

Peter Moody is plain wrong when he says Winx has nothing to prove by travelling overseas.
For a man so smart and street wise, it's such a stupid remark on so many fronts.
Winx, who is aiming for a third Cox Plate in October, is being headhunted for next year's Royal Ascot carnival.
Today's Courier-Mail quotes Moody as saying "other horses can come here and take her on if they want. Our racing is as good as there is in the world. She does not have to leave here to prove anything at all.'
It's worth remembering Moody took Black Caviar to Royal Ascot for a heart stopping win in the Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
Moody is right to respect the stature of Australian racing but we are not the epicentre of the world.
Major racing jurisdictions have their signature races. Indeed it would be a privilege to run in them let alone be a winning possibility.
Certainly, Winx has nothing to prove but wouldn't any Australian racing enthusiast worth their salt be busting with pride to see her compete on overseas soil.
Remember when you stayed up to watch Black Caviar in the early hours of Sunday morning five years ago?
Imagine saying to Lleyton Hewitt or Pat Cash, don't go to Wimbledon, let them come here for the Australian Open !
Winx richly deserves a crack at the world stage.

I received an email from Racing Queensland that I read expectantly.
RQ is implementing an economic impact study, gathering data to highlight the contribution of racing to the state.
Unfortunately, I fell at the first hurdle in the survey.
Unless you are an owner, trainer, breeder, jockey or driver, you don't get a start.
Unbelievable. There are so many other professions in the racing industry that contribute financially or otherwise.
Maybe an "other" column could have been included.

Racing Minister Grace Grace will receive Dale Monteith's much anticipated report on the Eagle Farm track this Friday.
I'd suggest blame is not sheeted to any particular individual but some collective responsibility will be addressed.
Will heads roll? I strongly doubt it.
And the plan will be to be back in racing action a month or two before the 2018 Winter Carnival.
Watch this space.

Wow. I can't recall the time I've seen so many nominations for a Saturday meeting with 237 entrants for this weekend's Doomben card.
It's the last bite at the metropolitan QTIS cherry for the two and three-year-olds and we may even see some divisions.
And "they" say the business is "stuffed."
