Sometimes it's worth putting things in perspective.

Particularly at this time of year.

All of the outrage emanating from the decision to stall Eagle Farm's reopening is a bit rich.

Certainly for stakeholders it's an ordinary result but let's be honest it wasn't unexpected.

In hindsight, nominating a return date of April would have been better left alone.

It created an unnecessary expectation.

So a racetrack won't be available for an extra six months to what was initially suggested.

Some families can't afford presents for their kids next Monday. Some might even struggle to present a half decent Christmas lunch.

Some people are on waiting lists for operations. Some are struggling to even get a bed at a hospital.

Some will sleep under the stars on Christmas Eve and it's not their choice.

So spare me the high dudgeon and all the emotive words.

Everything is relative. It's a friggin racetrack!

It's outrage for outrage's sake for some.

The usual suspects.

And if the project was hurried for a carnival return and the slightest problem evolved, they would be on their moral crusade again.

Some revel in those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations.

The Magic Millions two-year-old market will be turned on its head after Thursday.

Ef Troop's comprehensive display at Doomben entitled his MM price to be ratcheted up to $4.50 but the Magic Millions race at Wyong on Thursday will be of enormous significance.

Terminology, Jonker and Bondi all lurk around the $9 and $10 mark and their MM quote will head upwards or downwards after they clash at Wyong.

Understandably, such a market reshuffle could also alter Ef Troop's current trading price.

Big things are expected of debutante Terminology after two impressive trials at Warwick Farm and particularly at Rosehill.

Jonker and Bondi have already displayed their abilities on the racetrack.

And watch for Sunlight who will run at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The Flemington debut placegetter was just as good as Calaway Gal winner Outback Barbie in a recent trial at Aquis Park.

PIerata holds his position as Magic Millions Guineas favorite at $5.

He delivered an almost identical performance time wise in the Gold Edition as he did in the Winning Rupert although beaten in the latter.

I have no,doubt he will run a strong 1350-1400m when he contests the Vo Rogue (Doomben December 30) and then the Guineas at the Gold Coast on January 13.

Congratulations to Toby Edmonds on being awarded the Queensland Racing Media Association Personality of the Year for 2017.

Edmonds was announced as the recipient at the QRMA's annual function at Gallopers Sports Club on Monday.
