EAGLE FARM, CANTERBURY ABANDONED

Extreme weather conditions forced the abandonment of the race-meetings scheduled for Eagle Farm and Canterbury yesterday.

The severe dust storm which blanketed Sydney earlier in the morning reached Brisbane well before the first race was due to start. With no possible let-up in sight in the short-term, Stewards had no option but to abandon the meeting due to visibility and due concern for the welfare of both horse and rider.
