KILCOY CASH – SATURDAY 24 AUGUST 2019 Massive day at Kilcoy this weekend with eight races set to be decided.
The track is rated GOOD and the rail is in the true position.
The annual Veteran’s race day a wonderful day and it is FREE admission – you will see a great day this weekend at Kilcoy – they will fill the place! Race 1 An 800-metre sprint to start off the day.
I like Von Rosen (4) who is third up and drawn well for the Anderson-Heathcote Racing stables. Jake Bayliss in the saddle – looks a winning combination. Just a word of advice Jake get to the rail and be first around that corner and you will win mate! Blinkers go on this runner for the first time – watch for an improved effort.
Kick A Tinnie (1) looks the likely early leader from the Mark Currie stables and will be ridden by apprentice Sheriden Tomlinson who has some good success here at the track.
The rest of the field is hard to assess. Selections: 4-1-5-2
************************************************************************************************** Race 2 Another 800-metre race for the maiden runners this time.
Our Boy Borris (2) comes off a solid effort last start at Gatton. This runners like to race on the speed and should race well here with those tactics.
Curry Connection (7) is trained by Liam Birchley and will be ridden by Adin Thompson. This runner had his debut run here in April and was sent out favourite and ran a solid race. Since then she has had a break and recently barrier trialled well at Doomben – if she brings that run to the track this weekend, she will be competitive.
La Belle La Belle (8) ran second in the same race as Curry Connection (7) and has four months away from the track. Being first up here she may sprint well fresh. Selections: 2-7-8-9
**************************************************************************************************** Race 3
Metallurgist (6) is trained by Darryl Hansen who seems to get a winner here each meeting. He finished midfield when resuming over 1000 metres at the Sunshine Coast – he was just getting warm as the race finished. I think 1200 metres will suit this runner. Jake Bayliss is in the saddle.
Les Ross trains Poetic Choice (7) has the addition of blinkers this weekend and stable apprentice Sheriden Tomlinson is aboard. His run last start at the Gold Coast was solid. He will race near the lead as well.
Jack On The Rock (2) with Hannah English may fill a hole. . Selections: 6-7-2-1 **************************************************************************************************
Race 4 Supervisor (3) has a solid record here at the Kilcoy track – he will jump out and take up a forward position and should be difficult to run down.
Capeos (5) is dropping back in grade and looks well placed by the Anderson-Heathcote Racing team – another nice ride for Jake Bayliss.
Arigold (1) has won here before and Dakota Graham rides this 8-year-old gelding well.
The track specialist is Coonowrin Ruby (6) – 6 wins at the track and always seems to win at a large price. I have to put this one in. She seems to catch me nearly every time she goes around. Selections: 3-5-1-6 ************************************************************************************************** Race 5 Tavisfaction (5), trained by Louise White, resumed over 1400 metres at Sunshine Coast which was an unsuitable distance. I think second up over 1900 metres she will be better suited. She has performed well around 2000 metres previously and her only career win was over 2050 metres.
Consular (1), trained by Lawrie Mayfield-Smith, loves to lead this could be a winning tactic in this race – was sent out favourite last start at the Gold Coast and was disappointing. Stepping up in distance this weekend with Adin Thompson aboard.
Half Blue Moon (8) has won her past two starts – both times Cecily Eaton has been aboard. Selections: 5-1-8-2
************************************************************************************************** Race 6
Rain on Me (8) is trained by Jason Edwards and will be ridden by Cecily Eaton. This mare is resuming and ran an enormous barrier trial recently behind Zoustyle. She has a great record here at the track and may well need some luck from barrier 13 – but I think she will perform well. Now I must make special mention to the jockey Miss Eaton. I tipped you on top this week – good luck! Royal Equiano (11) is trained by Cherie Vick and will be ridden by Robert Faehr this weekend. He was narrowly beaten last time he went around at Kilcoy in June – it was a blanket finish and it was a narrow margin.
Mark Currie trains Sizzling Sun (9) who like to race in a forward position. Something went wrong last start at Toowoomba – she led and just faded. Maybe it was due to a quick turnaround. It’s 3 weeks between her last run here. Maybe we will see an improved performance. Selections: 8-11-9-2
************************************************************************************************* Race 7 Butler McDermott Lawyers Vietnam Veterans Cup 2019 Machu Picchu (6) loves to lead and has been racing very well in some better class races – looks a standout selection in this race if she can handle the Kilcoy track for the first time.
Trommelschlagen (3) is resuming from a spell here and has raced well previously. The recent barrier trial was solid – he may show up.
Snipstream (2) won the feature race here back in June. He is a dual acceptor and is also engaged at the Gold Coast but has drawn wide down there – where will Donald “Ducky” Baker run him this weekend?
Rosie Posie (4) is a Matt Kropp runner who has had a small freshen up and is dropping back to 1200 metres.
Allena (8) resumed at Doomben a fortnight ago and I think will appreciate this grade and will perform well at this track. I see that Beau “The Big Guns” Appo is riding this one – he may have big arms, but does he have the stamina to get this one home? Selections: 6-3-2-4 rough chance 8
************************************************************************************************** Race 8 The last race at Kilcoy on this massive day of racing.
Accountant (2) is trained by Kylie Geran and will be ridden by Gary Geran. He has won here before at the track and will need some luck as he can get back in the field and storm home late.
Ivy’s Dream (3) is trained on the Gold Coast by Les Kelly and will be ridden by Jarrod Woodhouse. She was solid first up over 1100 metres. She has won second up and drawn in barrier 1 I expect her to bounce out and be handy throughout the running.
Harry’s Star has been a model of consistency finishing second in his past two starts. He will try and get across from barrier 10 and take up the running. Selections: 2-3-5-4 rough chance 6
