WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, AUGUST 31, 2019
By Darren Winningham | Thursday, August 29, 2019
Eagle Farm this weekend with the track rated “GOOD.” The rail is out 3 metres for the entire course.
Let’s go!
NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day Race 1
Edmonds Racing V Gollan Racing here for mine. I will go with the nice barrier for the Toby Edmonds trained Zac Attack (2) who resumes here and comes off a strong trial win.
A strong watch on the Tony Sears Racing filly Better Thinking (6) who led all the way and looked dominant in that debut win on her home track at Toowoomba.
Selections: 2-1-6-8 rough chance 12

Race 2
A good sprint race here over 1000 metres.
Barry Lockwood seems to be having some great luck recently and his runner Invincible Gangsta (8) was heavily supported first up here a fortnight ago and he won very impressively. He meets most of these runners a little worse at the weights but should be hard to knock off this weekend – Dale Smith retains the ride.
I would not leave out the Chris Munce trained Ours To Keep (9) who resumes this week. He normally races well fresh and I think the trial two weeks ago was better than it looked. He us drawn well and races well here at Eagle Farm.
Whypeeo (1) has the addition of a cross over nose band this weekend – look for an improved effort.
Selections: 8-9-1-5

Race 3
Another one of these distance races that are difficult to assess each week.
I am sticking with Ocean Addict (7) who ran into the classy Ilwendo last start here – that is good form for this race. Jackson Murphy escaped serious injury last weekend in a dramatic race fall and it is great to see him back in the saddle riding this one.
Jake’s Hill (2) led last weekend on the Gold Coast and I think may have just run out of fitness – look to see him finish stronger.
His stable mate is Makdanife (5) who was heavily supported last weekend and finished last in the same race. After the race the jockey reported the slow pace of the race did not suit the horse. There is some genuine speed this weekend – a dramatic improvement may result.
Selections: 7-2-5-8
***************************************************************************************************
Race 4
A nice race here.
Looks Like Elvis (3) has been racing in career best form. Nick Keal retains the ride this weekend. He should go on with his recent winning form.
The likely challenger is Magnufighter (5) who was strong last time out at Doomben. He steps up to 1815 metres this weekend for the first time.
Go wide for the placings – anything could fill them!
Selections: 3-5-10-7
**************************************************************************************************
Race 5
Sovereign Nation (1) was held up badly in the straight last start at a vital stage. He is a class above these and with the rail out 3 metres and any luck in the straight this weekend – he should be winning. Baylee Nothdurft stays aboard, and his claim will come in handy.
The Steven O’Dea and Stephanie Thornton combination continues to thrive with another win at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday. They combine here with So Spirited (9) who will appreciate this large open track and comes off a solid win at Ipswich last start.
Last weekend Sword Of Justice (2) was climbing over them in the blanket finish in the last race on the Gold Coast won by River Racer – that run was good enough to show up here.
The two Chris Waller trained runners Fortensky (5) and The Avaneger (6) are not without chances either.
Selections: 1-9-2-6
***************************************************************************************************
Race 6
The first leg of the Quaddie this weekend.
Again, Stephanie Thornton and O’Dea Racing combine with Contemptuous (8) who resumes here. His trial and the time at Doomben two weeks ago was slashing and commands respect in this race – especially with the claim for apprentice Thornton.
Jagged Edge (1) also resumes after a 16-week spell here for Stuart Kendrick and looked to be ready show up here this weekend with a solid hit in a trial recently at home on the Sunshine Coast. Jimmy Orman, who rode him in the recent trial, stays aboard.
Devil’s Temptation (2) resumes as well after an 18-week spell. He has not had a trial. I am not too concerned as there was an air of confidence and expectation from the stable around this runner last preparation.
Rucca (1) won on debut at Ipswich back in April. A win in a recent barrier trial at the Gold Coast would suggest that he is ready to continue with that winning form. A tough race. Selections: 8-1-2-4
**************************************************************************************************
Race 7
This is a tough race – could be a blow out result – you may have to play wide in your Quaddies and Trebles. I just have gone for some value here.
Rabbit Hunter (9) has raced well here at the track in his last preparation and is second up this weekend. Is drawn well and normally races better second up.
Kevin Kemp and Nick Keal combine with Dreamtimer (10) who is second up as well and I think got too far back when resuming. This weekend, from barrier 3, I expect him to be close to the speed. I will forgive the last start effort at Doomben and I am looking for a better run this time out.
Otherwise go wide – the bookies may be cheering after this race!
Selections: 9-10-6-11
**************************************************************************************************
Race 8
The Class 3 race – they are making me work this week. I liked the effort of the Tony Gollan trained Highway (14) first up. She goes down in weight this weekend and has won second up – each way all day for mine at $10.
Our Girl Silke (8) may have had a case of the second up blues last start. Forgive her that run, and she is right in this.
Red Doulton (15), despite drawing wide, will be storming home late for Sunshine Coast trainer Natalie McCall She won here two starts ago over 1500 metres and appeared not to handle the mile last start.
The Chris Munce trained Zoucara (11) loves this track and with the claim for apprentice Chelsea Hall gets in well at the weights – do not leave this one out of your multiples at around $21.
Selections: 14-8-9-11 rough chance 13
**************************************************************************************************
Race 9
A tough way to end the day – a massive field.
I think Tony Gollan will trifecta the race if his runners get any luck here.
I liked the win of Unlikely Story (15) last start when he won over 1200 metres at Doomben – he may just go on with it here. This is his first start over 1400 metres. That is probably my only concern.
Tokoriki Lad (12) has been racing very consistently and was given a peach of a ride last start by Jim Byrne who remains aboard this weekend. He has a solid record at 1400 metres and looks like he will be in the finish again.
Brains (16) resumed with a super effort first up storming home from the rear of the field. If they are making ground and coming wide on Saturday this would be my runner to win the race at $21.
Red Chase (19) won well in restricted company last start – steps up again to Class 6 but must be respected. The Tax Accountant (21) is a reserve – however, if he makes the field he will be very difficult to hold out for trainer Tom Button.
Selections: 15-16-12-19 rough chances 9,11 & 21

WINNO V FLEMO
FLEMO gave me a flogging a fortnight ago here. He seems to go well at Eagle Farm – let’s see what happens this weekend. There will be added pressure next weekend when his Broncos play my Bulldogs! Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after any track changes of scratchings!
