WINNO'S WHISPERS: FLEMINGTON, MELBOURNE CUP DAY
By Darren Winningham | Sunday, November 3, 2019
THE FIRST TUESDAY IN NOVEMBER – MELBOURNE CUP DAY
The track is rated “SLOW” and the rail is out 3 metres for the feature day of racing in Melbourne.
On Saturday there seemed to be a bias towards the on-speed runners early and it seemed to remain most of the day. In some later races some back markers started making some late runs – but not many made their presence felt if they settled in the second half of the fields.
NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day

The wet track brings a new dynamic to the race. I think the Japanese horse may struggle – I think that they perform best on a good to firm track. There are overseas horses aplenty – they all have soft track form that should see them measure up here this week.
