EAGLE FARM RACES – SATURDAY 14 DECEMBER 2019 Eagle Farm this weekend with the track rated “GOOD” with the rail in the true position
We enter the second day of the 2019 TAB “Origin” Jockeys Series! Fresh up after a big week in Hong Kong let’s see if we can find some winners here!
NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day
Race 1 Gollan Racing has two nice chances here – Vienna Power (13) and Godfather’s Girl (12).
Godfather’s Girl won the Kilcoy Cannonball Final last start when she stormed home late. With the speed in this race here the race could be within her reach as she has been doing well recently over the shorter 800 metres. Vienna Power (13), ridden by Jim Byrne, is fourth up and should be ready to fire.
Dream Master (3) from Edmonds Racing is stepping up in grade but looks well placed here – Ronnie Stewart to ride. Selections: 13 – Vienna Power 12 – Godfathers Girl 3 – Dream Master 4 – Alot Like Home Rough chance 1 & 7 <>b>Race 2
The scheduled fourth leg in the 2019 TAB “Origin” Jockeys Series!
Ziemba (10) is on the quick back up from a solid effort last weekend for Heathcote Racing. Michael Rodd is in the saddle for NSW. The way he has raced in his last two starts makes it appear he is looking for the mile.
Enterprise Moss (8), trained by Mick Lakey, was a little flat last start and I think with two weeks since that run will strip fitter for that effort – Samantha Collett (New Zealand) rides.
Cabin Fever (5) will have Jason Holder aboard for Gillian Heinrich. She won well at the Sunshine Coast last start – however, has a poor record at Eagle Farm. Selections: 10 – Ziemba 8 – Enterprise Moss 5 – Cabin Fever 7 – Senrima Tide Rough chance 3 & 4 Race 3 Get Stuck In (3) has had little luck in his past two starts. He goes well here on this track and this weekend has Michael Rodd in the saddle – two reasons why he could salute the judge!
Trevelyan (6) is the early market favourite – and deservedly so. He is second up after a small let up and won last start at Doomben over a mile. He has drawn well and Ronnie Stewart rides again this weekend – he will be hard to hold out again!
Saxton Rock (1) looks the likely leader and last start was in front until the last 30 metres when he was swamped late. Stephanie Thornton is back in the saddle this weekend and her claim should assist. Selections: 3 – Get Stuck In 6 – Trevelyan 5 – Saxton Rock 12 – Dreamreacher Rough chance 13 Race 4
The last leg in the 2019 TAB “Origin” Jockeys Series!
The Championship round – who will win the trophy this year?
This looks a great chance for the Steven O’Dea trained Jeweliana (12). She raced in the Listed Mode Plate last start and drops back in grade here with Craig Newitt (Tasmania) to ride. Last start she was caught wide from a wide barrier – forgive that run and let’s hope this weekend she can get in from barrier 13 and get home late!
Edmonds Racing have Maslow (2) in the race with NSW’s Michael Rodd to ride him. He was unlucky last start as well being checked off heels early and then ran into some interference. Look for Rodd to give this runner a gun run and claim victory for NSW! (GO THE BLUES)!
Dynamic Verse (9) is trained by Natalie McCall and will be ridden by Kathy O’Hara (NSW) – go NSW! This runner should appreciate the step up in distance and should be able to fill a place.
VJ Day won here last start for trainer Kacy Fogden at a massive $26. If he turns in another run like that he will be in the finish! Oh yes – Matthew McGillivray (QLD) rides this one. Selections: 12 – Jeweliana 2 – Maslow 9 – Dynamic Verse 4 – VJ Day Rough Chance Race 5 A good quality race here over 1800 metres. Winning Ways (2) resumes from a brief let up. Looks well placed here and with some speed in the race should be suited in this race over 1800 metres.
A Man To Watch (7) returned to the winning stall last start with a great effort at Doomben. He is coming back in distance, however, I think he will be suited by the tempo.
The Candy Man (1) has been well supported in the early markets and was unlucky last weekend. He is on a quick back up and stepping up in distance slightly should assist his chances.
Tamarack (3) is the Sydney visitor from the Joe Pride stables – the blinkers go back on this weekend which should see an improved effort. Do not overlook him. Selections: 2 – Winning Ways 7 – A Man To Watch 1 – The Candy Man 3 – Tamarack Rough chance 6 Race 6 Gold Edition Plate – Listed
Another good race here the three-year olds.
David Vandyke has Alligator Blood (1) resuming here. He looks like he is ready for a bold showing first up with an impressive trial on the Sunshine Coast – Ryan Maloney to ride.
The Odyssey (2) resumes after a six-week let up and was impressive last week in a barrier trial at Doomben. Jimmy Orman gets back on the saddle for this run. Drawn barrier 1 he will test the favourite Alligator Blood (1) here – look for a classic finish to this race.
Eleven Eleven (4) ran a bold race first up for Greg Hickman. He would have derived some benefit from that run and will be ready to step out here and show his best this weekend.
Le Palmier (3) will be looking to post back to back wins – Matthew McGillivray stays aboard. Selections: 1 – Alligator Blood 2 – The Odyssey 4 – Eleven Eleven 3 – Le Palmier Race 7 Boomsara (1) has drawn well and looks the one to beat from the Chris Munce stables – Brad Stewart to ride. Last start he drew wide first up and was caught wide but battled on well to run a gallant third. His second up form is not too flash, but he must be respected.
Vega One (3) is trained by Tony Gollan. I have been waiting for this one to see 1400 metres and he gets that distance this weekend on a track where he performs well. Michael Rodd is taking the ride this weekend and his style of riding should suit this runner. I think he is ready to perform well – I like him!
Tambo’s Mate (2), trained by Stuart Kendrick, won the Listed Tatt’s Recognition last start. Many people thought that he would struggle at the 1350 metres (including me) but he showed that he was strong to the line and I think he will be solid at the 1400 metres here this weekend.
Outback Barbie (8) is the other Gollan Racing runner. She was desperately unlucky last start in the George Moore Stakes (Group 3) when she just missed in the final bound to pin back the winner – Chapter and Verse. That is solid form for this race. Gollan has a distinct chance to quinella the race with his runners! Selections: 3 – Vega One 8 – Outback Barbie 1 – Boomsara 2 – Tambo’s Mate Rough chance 4 Race 8 Lough Neagh Stakes – Listed
All the likely leaders here are drawn wide and will need to use up some energy to get out and across.
With the speed on here I think there is a big chance for the old war horse Tyzone (1) from Edmonds Racing to be suited to the tempo and to storm home down the outside with Ryan Maloney riding. Now that being said the other runner that will be coming home strong will be the Kris Lees runner Miss Fabulass (7) who won the Listed Tatts Classic last start giving Andrew Mallyon his first black type race winner in Queensland. They pair up again this weekend and I do recall someone saying after the race “she will be better over a further distance”. She gets 1400 metres this weekend with genuine speed and a light weight – she will be right in this! Can Mallyon win consecutive Listed races on her and hold another trophy aloft?
Chapter and Verse (5) won the Group 3 George Moore Stakes in a narrow victory over Outback Barbie (engaged race 7). You will get a guide on his chances if she franks that form in the previous race.
If you want one at odds, I will steer you into Monsieur Gustave (4) at $31 with an impeccable second up record. This runner is trained by Darryl Hansen and will be ridden by Michael Hellyer. His run first up was solid and he will appreciate this Eagle Farm track.
Vandyke Racing has another solid chance here as well - Constant Flight (12) - to be partnered by Jake Bayliss. She is second up here with no weight on her back. I think they may elect to take a sit behind the leaders and she will be well placed in the straight to finish off the race when the whips are cracking! Selections: 1 – Tyzone 7 – Miss Fabulass 5 – Chapter and Verse 4 – Monsieur Gustave Rough chance 12 Race 9
A massive field to finish of the day – a tough race!
Chris Anderson Racing has two nice chances here with Epic Girl (13) and Boomtown Lass (9). Boomtown Lass was well supported last start and stormed home and got the chocolates. Despite drawing wide (barrier 20) Epic Girl (13) has a weight relief for apprentice Stephanie Thornton and should be in the finish.
Cruze (2) resumed with a soft win at the Gold Coast for Barry Lockwood. He has won here at this track and distance and apprentice Corey Bayliss takes 2 kilograms off his weight.
The one that could show up and silly odds (currently $25) is The Tax Accountant for trainer Tom Button. This gelding will race handy in behind the speed and his recent trial at the Sunshine Coast suggests he is ready to fire first up. I will be curious to see who he gets to ride this runner! Selections: 9 – Boomtown Lass 2 – Cruze 13 – Epic Girl 21 – The Tax Accountant

FLEMO flogged me last weekend. I did mange $0 – my excuse is that I was suffering from jet lag after my visit to Honkers. To be fair it was a tough program and we both did poorly by our normal standards – let’s hope we bounce back this weekend. Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after any track changes and scratchings! Good luck and good punting!
