WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, JANUARY 18, 2020

By Darren Winningham | Friday, January 17, 2020

EAGLE FARM RACES – SATURDAY 18 JANUARY 2020

Eagle Farm races where the track is rated “GOOD” and the rail is out 6 metres for the entire course this weekend. After a sensational day at the Gold Coast last weekend – 2020 Magic Millions this week will be an anticlimax.

In racing news this week, I must kneel before the “Lord of the Tipping” … the great one … none other than JOSH FLEMING. Last weekend Josh tipped seven - YES SEVEN winners on Magic Millions day. How good is that for an effort – well done mate.

I am going to keep it brief this week as I am not a fan of this program. In fact, after a really busy Summer Carnival, I think I will take a break from the track this week.

Race 1

A tough way to start the day – some two-year-old runners going around here. Munce Racing’s Better Rush was solid first up. She may pay to follow here – Justin Huxtable to ride.

Selections:
9 – Better Rush
5 – Miss Lot One
6 – Grenado
3 – Mass Destruction
Rough chances 1 & 2

Race 2

The dynamic duo of Tony Gollan and Baylee Nothdurft combine with Pizonie (2) here. The gelding drops back from a strong Class 6 to a Class 3 and he looks ideally placed here.

Selections:
2 – Pizonie
3 – Racecourse Road
6 – Usmanov
4 – Ramtastic
Rough chance 1

Race 3

A staying race over 2200 metres – I think by now my gorgeous beagle Buster and I will be walking around the river walk in Brisbane city – why not join us?

I see Ethan Ensby has brought his unbeaten colt to town – coming to the big smoke! This colt has worked well through his grades and is looking to win four from four! His stable apprentice Nori Masuda will claim a valuable 3 kilograms and so he will carry 51 kilograms this weekend – hard to not tip him here.

Here lies my pain – I tip him I will be accused of getting it beaten by Ethan. I don’t tip him he says I am a mug! One thing is for sure I bet Ethan will have his $3 K-Mart sunglasses on his head this weekend – good luck mate!

Selections:
6 – Torrens
3 – Art Attack
11 – In Your Element
1 – Capital Gain

Race 4

Les Ross Racing has a great chance here with The Kingdom (8) - and with a claim for apprentice Adin Thompson he looks even more exciting! His run three weeks ago looks like a great guide to his chances this weekend.

Selections:
8 – The Kingdom
12 – Mosshiki
13 – Too Hot To Cold
15 – First Dawn

Race 5

Cool Chap (2), trained by Robert Heathcote, has been racing consistently. Not a race I can get excited about. Heathcote and Fradd have had some great success in recent meetings.

A good rough chance is Emphasis (3) who races well here at Eagle Farm – at $25 maybe a great knock out chance!

Selections:
2 – Cool Chap
3 – Emphasis
4 – New Universe
5 - Cruze

Race 6

A race for the three-year-old fillies.

I like the Hulbert Racing trained Oh Five Glory (2) who drops back in class this weekend – there is no Alligator Blood to contend with here! Adin Thompson is the stable apprentice and I think this runner deserves a change in luck!

The Steven O’Dea Racing runner Deep Sorrow (10) was remarkable first-up on debut at the Sunshine Coast – keep safe.

Selections:
2 – Oh Five Glory
5 – Say Haya
10 – Deep Sorrow
9 – Roasted
Rough chances 3 & 15

Race 7

A race for the three-year-old boys. I like a runner I saw win over the 2019 Grafton Carnival. Trained in NSW by Brett Cavanough – Eiger (8) is his name. He needs a strong rider as he can be a difficult to ride. Jake Bayliss is in the saddle and I think he will make sure his mount keeps his mind on the job. Great each way odds at $17 – each way all day!

Selections:
8 – Eiger
2 – Raging Pole
3 – Kalik
1 – Master Jamie
Rough chance 5

Race 8

Let’s start with this. I don’t think Clockwise (4) will get 1400 metres at Eagle Farm!

Mr Bellagio (3) was solid here first up and then was unlucky last start at the Gold Coast - $21 this weekend – again, each way all day!

Another runner to watch is the Aquis horse Schubert (2), now trained by Kacy Fogden – another runner at good odds. This race could be an absolute knock out for punters and the bookies could be cheering!

Selections:
3 – Mr Bellagio
2 – Schubert
7 – Sofie Gold Class
4 – Clockwise
Rough chances 5 & 6

Race 9

The last race of the day – Buster will be having chicken and carrots and I will be having chicken and salad for dinner watching the cricket whilst you suckers are still at the track!

Freddie Fox Trot (1) races well here and could give apprentice Leah Kilner a great win in the city at a Saturday meeting.

Jamie Lady (9) ran a wonderful race last weekend at Magic Millions when only beaten just over a length by the super mare – Invincibella. That form line is great for race like this but barrier 17 may pose some dramas.

Selections:
1 – Freddie Fox Trot
9 – Jami Lady
12 – Pennino
14 – Ice Frost
Rough chance 5

WINNO V FLEMO

WINNO copped a towelling last weekend from FLEMO in our tipping competition! Can WINNO bite back or will FLEMO, who must be in a super confident mood after last Saturday, carry all before him once again. Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after final scratchings and possible changes to the track rating!
