WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, 8 FEBRUARY, 2020

EAGLE FARM RACES – SATURDAY 8 FEBRUARY 2020
Eagle Farm races. The track is rated a soft 5 at the time of writing and the rail is in out 10 metres for the entire course this weekend. The wet weather is set to continue so pack a raincoat or stay under cover for the day.
Last weekend the runners seemed to be coming wide and performing better than those close to the rails. The rail is out a further 2 metres than it was last weekend. I would expect them to come even wider this week and race on untried parts of the track.
Time to get into it now!
NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day

Race 1
The two-year-old runners are engaged here.
I like the effort of the Les Ross Racing runner Hancora Field (9) last weekend at the Gold Coast. The quick back up is maybe in her favour. A good each way price as well. Matthew McGillivray is in the saddle here.
There has been some very good support for the Heathcote Racing runner – Bellissimi Amici (8). She looked like she needed the run first up and should strip fitter. The betting move suggests they expect a big improvement here this weekend.
Selections:
9 – Hancora Field 1 – Boom Spender 8 – Bellissimi Amici 3 – Statesville Rough chance – (4) Mishani Machine Race 2
A distance race here – I just dislike them – so will go grab some lunch!
There looks a promising stayer here trained by Matt Boland – Swing Shift (8). He is only a three-year-old and I like his solid recent form which includes wins in his past three starts. Adin Thompson, who rode a winning double last weekend, is in the saddle and his three-kilogram allowance brings this runner in well at the weights.
Selections:
8 – Swing Shift 10 – In Your Element 9 – The Investigator 1 – Art Attack Race 3
A Class 3 over 1840 metres.
This is an open race. Ultimate Ring (7) is my top selection - however, he has had 6 cracks at Eagle Farm for no placings which is some concern. His recent form suggests that he looks well placed here in this grade by trainer Kelly Schweida.
If you want a knockout chance at reasonable odds, I suggest Champagne Vega (2). This Bruce Hill runner is third up this preparation and is back to his best distance. Ryan Maloney should make a difference.
Twilighter (6) ran a great race behind The Kingdom here three weeks ago. The Kingdom then came out and won again strongly last weekend – maybe Desleigh Forster and Mark du Plessis can grab a win here.
Selections:
7 – Ultimate Ring 2 – Champagne Vega 6 – Twilighter 10 – Valadyium Race 4
It is a very tough race this one. I was on the Brett Cavanough trained Eiger (3) last start. He is fourth up this start and never got much luck in the straight last start here three weeks ago. The winkers go on this weekend - $10 each way looks great value.
Edmonds Racing trains Vanna Girl (4) who won at massive odds last start at the Sunshine Coast. She goes up 4.5 kilograms – maybe that will make this week’s assignment difficult.
Selections:
3 – Eiger 6 – Violet 1 – Stuttering 4 – Vanna Girl Race 5
I think this Steven O’Dea runner looks the best bet of the day – Katy's Daughter (5).
She has some strong form around her – a solid win last start at the Sunshine Coast. Stephanie Thornton is aboard again this weekend. GET ON!
Selections:
5 – Katy's Daughter 9 – Mollys Rocking 11 – Shamurt 14 – Amore Danza Rough chance – (10) – Mittere Race 6
The first leg of the Quaddie.
Cool Chap (1) has been racing well – winning his past two starts. He is backing up from a solid win last weekend. He is racing like a happy horse but I just think, back in distance and up in weight this weekend, you can risk him.
Tony Gollan and Baylee Nothdurft have continued their great success in recent weeks. Silvera (5) looks a nice each way chance to get another victory on the board for these two. I think the mile is his best distance and Baylee could win on a broom stick at the moment!
Selections:
5 – Silvera 6 – New Universe 7 – Prioritise 1 – Cool Chap Race 7
A massive field for this No Metro Win race – tough is an understatement!
Bold Warrior (5) posted a good win at the Gold Coast a fortnight ago for local trainer Gary Doughty. I wonder whether the Gold Coast’s number 1 strapper (self-proclaimed) Luke Milligean will brave the rain wrecking his gel in his hair and come and strap one this weekend at headquarters – only time will tell!
I see Jag Guthmann-Chester has the ride here this weekend – maybe he will hoping to add the Eagle Farm mud treatment to his face if the rain keeps on smashing the Brisbane area in the next few days.
Sofie’s Gold Class (11) is back in grade for this race – she is always a solid performer and only lightly raced and will be the hardest to beat.
Selections:
5 – Bold Warrior 11 – Sofies Gold Class 13 – Seentoomany 10 – Ramtastic Rough chance – (3) – Fomo Race 8
Three-year-old sprint over 1200 metres. Roasted (3) won here last start in notable fashion. She is trained by Robert Heathcote and will be ridden again by Ron Stewart. I think she has some improvement left in her and will be hard to beat here again.
Master Jamie (1) was superb last start here leading all the way in dynamic style. He is trained by Graeme Green and Jimmy Orman Is aboard the gelding this weekend. He will lead again from barrier 3 and, if the track has a leader’s bias with the rail out so far, you should get on this impressive runner. 13 starts for 10 wins and 2 placings – he must be respected.
Selections:
3 – Roasted 1 – Master Jamie 2 – Snowzone 5 – Baby Boomer Rough chance – (15) – Spirit Rich Race 9 The last race of the day – 1200 metres again.
Michael Costa has two nice chances here – Malahide (12) and Phobetor (8). They both have been racing well. Malahide (12) did well enough over the Magic Millions Carnival and has had a short month break. Her recent trial was solid, and Jake Bayliss is aboard this weekend – she will be very hard to beat here.
Phobetor (8) didn’t handle the 1400 metres last start. Back in distance with Jimmy Orman aboard - do not overlook this runner.
Dream Master (6) has been in the money his past four starts – Stephanie Thornton aboard for this effort, He races well here and will be on the speed.
Clockwise (11) drops back to his pet distance of 1200 metres thus weekend. He has a very good chance of victory.
Selections:
12 – Malahide 6 – Dream MAster 11 – Clockwise 8 – Phobetor Rough chances – (7) Invincible Gangsta and (9) Winter Passage
