RODD WINS FOR THE GUY STABLE. THE OLD TEAM IS BACK ON SONG AS HIGHLIGHTS SCORES A COMFORTABLE WIN

It was always going to happen, of course.
Once jockey Michael Rodd announced he was relocating to Queensland it was odds-on that it would not be long before he rode a winner for the Guy stable, resuming a line of success that served Rodd so well when he was apprenticed to Bryan Guy in the early part of his career.
Bryan Guy now trains in partnership with his son Daniel, and the Guy team had lined up the three-year-old gelding Highlights for the second race at Eagle Farm today, with Rodd aboard, and the son of Your Song won the Magic Millions Maiden Plate over 1600m in comfortable fashion under the usual competent ride from Rodd.
“Yeah, it was always going to happen,” agreed Bryan Guy. “He (Rodd) is doing a bit of riding for me. Nine times out of ten I can get him to ride for us which is good. His manager is looking after us … if we have got the right horse and we get in early enough we get him.
“The relationship just keeps rolling along. I hope he keeps riding winners and keeps riding winners for us. Let’s hope it is a good next chapter.”
“It is so good to have Michael back in Queensland,” added Daniel Guy. “We get on well. He rides well and you can leave things to him.
“Like today … the plan was to sit about fifth or sixth, but he jumped so well and, Michael being Michael, he summed it up pretty quickly and did the rest.
“He knows his speed. He is brilliant at it.”
