JASON TAYLOR SUFFERS SERIOUS INJURIES IN A NASTY INCIDENT BEHIND THE BARRIERS AT THE GOLD COAST

An incident behind the starting barriers prior to the running of the fourth race at the Gold Coast on Saturday has left jockey Jason Taylor with serious injuries.
Taylor’s manager, Melissa Shield, has confirmed that Taylor suffered punctured lungs, bleeding on the lungs, broken ribs, facial injuries and bruising when his mount reared behind the gates, dislodged Taylor before falling.
Taylor was examined at the track by members of the Queensland Ambulance Service after the incident before being transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
OVERNIGHT UPDATE:
Jason Taylor has been cleared of any spinal injuries following yesterday’s nasty incident behind the barriers at the Gold Coast.
Taylor’s manager, Melissa Shield, had reported that Taylor suffered punctured lungs, bleeding on the lungs, broken ribs, facial injuries and bruising when his mount reared and fell behind the gates … but, on a more positive note, she was happy to report that Taylor has been cleared of any spinal injuries.
Shield added that Taylor's wife Alana and daughter Jess were with him and they are in good spirits.
Taylor is on pain blockers and he has now been moved from ICU to trauma.
At this stage it is not known how long Taylor will remain in hospital.
