ART CADEAU COMES UP TRUMPS IN SECOND HEAT OF THE NSW COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS

The second of seven Racing NSW Country Championship Qualifier races (there will also be one wild card race in the series) was decided at Goulburn today where Art Cadeau, who was all the rage in the betting at $1.80, prevailed under a determined ride by Tommy Berry to hold off the faster finishing Leg Work.
The Terry Robinson trained Art Cadeau certainly had the form going into the race to warrant his restrictive odds having won three times and had six runner-up finishes in his nine starts.
Tommy Berry had become his regular jockey having been in the saddle for the son of Artie Schiller’s previous four starts and that established working relationship between horse and rider served the cause well in the run home where art Cadeau was given little respite.
The Danny Williams trained Leg Word, who was second-up here, was equally as impressive as the winner, making up ground in telling fashion late after having to work his way around from the worst of the draw and come from a long way back.
This leg of the Country Championship Qualifiers (representing the South East region) was originally scheduled to take place at Nowra on Sunday, but that meeting was switched to Goulburn because of the track conditions there due to inadvertent weather.
Art Cadeau and Leg Work will join Baileys and Tara Jasmine, who were the two horses to advance from the Coffs Harbour qualifying leg held on Saturday, in the final.
