The votes have been tallied and first ten horses to gain entry into the $5 million All-Star Mile have been officially announced by Racing Victoria.
The ten horses voted into the ten starting positions allocated to horses who garnered the most votes are;
1. Arcadia Queen (WA, Grant & Alana Williams) – 15,105 votes. 2. Behemoth (SA, David Jolly) – 14,699 votes. 3. Probabeel (NZ, Jamie Richards) – 14,503 votes. 4. Still A Star (TAS, Bill Ryan) – 9,954 votes. 5. Greysful Glamour (NSW, Mark Newnham) – 9,821 votes. 6. Russian Camelot (VIC, Danny O’Brien) – 8,460 votes. 7. In all, 147,830 votes were cast.
Places still remain to be filled in the All-Star Mile. The Group 1 Futurity Stakes (contested today) and the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (next Saturday) are designated wildcard options for qualification for the All-Star Mile. However, should a horse already in the race via the voting outcome win one or both of these races, that race winning slot will revert back to being a discretionary wildcard to be decided by Racing Victoria.
The final field will be announced on March 1.
Already, with the full line-up yet to be completed, the field represents the best of a cross section of no less than six states, as well as New Zealand. Horses from Victorian based trainers fill three of the ten positions, South Australia has two runners while Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and New Zealand all have one horse in the contest.
The race will be run at Moonee Valley on March 13.
