Trainer Les Ross notched up yet another two-year-old winner when Mishani Enchanted scored in the opening race at Eagle Farm as the second favourite at $3.60.
The chestnut filly, who was claiming the second win of her career, came into the race on the back of a creditable runner-up finish behind the smart Glorious Ruby in her previous start and she was still very much up for the task in spite of this being her seventh start in this preparation.
Credit jockey Jimmy Orman too for a move approaching the turn which put Mishani Enchanted into a winning position.
Orman was not happy to allow Habib (the $2.40 favourite) to continue to have a soft time up front and he urged Mishani Enchanted along wider on the track to in the sweep to the turn to join issue with Habib, putting that runner under pressure, before surging to the lead shortly after straightening.
The race was not won yet though, but Mishani Enchanted maintained a resolute gallop in the straight against a hard charging pack and, although The Stifmeister ($4) was making up ground strongly late, he had to settle for second placing (on debut) as Mishani Enchanted had done enough to claim victory.
